Did you know that Asian Americans are the least likely to feel a strong sense of belonging in the U.S.? The 2024 STAATUS Index reveals that due to discrimination and lack of representation, only 38% of Asian Americans completely agree they belong, and even fewer feel fully accepted. The STAATUS Index survey conducted by The Asian American Foundation serves as the leading national study of American stereotypes and attitudes toward the Asian American, Native Hawaiian and Pacific Islanders (AANHPI) community. Launched in 2021 in response to the rise of anti-Asian hate, TAAF works tirelessly to reverse the longstanding under-investment in the AANHPI community and address the root causes of hate and discrimination. This month in celebration of Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) Heritage Month, SHEIN is thrilled to highlight the vibrant creatives and culture of the AANHPI communities. Through the newly announced SHEIN X Sriracha collection, we are featuring designs from seven independent artists who are part of the SHEIN X designer incubator program. By shopping the SHEIN X Sriracha collection, customers will not only be adding unique pieces to their wardrobe—they’re also supporting the incredible work of The Asian American Foundation (TAAF). Roughly 60% of Hispanic and Asian American consumers and 76% of Black consumers will support brands that support them. This requires more than simply hosting a multicultural event at a store or translating loyalty deals into various languages. It's May and we're celebrating Asian American Native Hawaiian Pacific Islander American Heritage (AANHPI) Month! Here at Centriply, as we appreciate the many contributions of the AANHPI community to our culture, we're again reminded that locating audiences--the right audiences--with an ad campaign is critical for brands. For instance, Asian Americans are the fastest growing consumer market in the US--with a collective purchasing power of $1.6 trillion(!) and counting per Nielsen. Can you find this important audience at the ZIP Code level, and ensure your TV ad campaign does too? And measure the results on the back end? Not really you say? Then talk to us--we can and do, every day. From SmartBrief: "Asian Americans are the fastest-growing consumer segment. According to Nielsen, the collective purchasing power of Asian Americans is more than $1.6 trillion in 2024, growing 314% between 2000 and 2019, far exceeding the increase in purchasing power of all other racial and ethnic groups over the same period. For comparison, the total US buying power grew 119% during the same period. ... Asian Americans take notice when brands support us and connect with us in authentic and genuine ways. In fact, 64% of Asian Americans are more likely to pay attention to ads that reflect our culture. Connecting with Asian consumers in English and in language using cultural insights, knowledge and understanding should be a priority for companies."
