Michael San Miguel is a Claims Industry Partner Representative at SGI. He's also been volunteering with MADD for five years. Some of the work he's done with MADD includes participating in checkstops, in collaboration with SGI and municipal police services. The goal is to share awareness about impaired driving, and make sure the roads are safe. Recently, Michael was at the launch of the Crashed Car Campaign in Saskatoon, pictured here. Volunteering with MADD is important to him because he wants to make sure our community is safe.

Great to see ‘fostering to reunite’ being highlighted. It’s crucial for there to be capacity in our local communities to enable beloved pets to be looked after when people in crisis are unable to be with them. We must help these important life enhancing, life saving relationships to continue rather than pets being permanently relinquished when owners are desperate not to lose them. Let’s hope we also have pet friendly options in temporary and emergency accommodation, plus hostels and refuges. No pet policies are a massive barrier and cause distress for both owners and pets at a time when they need each other. New work: Ava and Mr Biggles. Today, the new Cats Protection brand is being launched with its biggest ever fundraising campaign, focusing on one of the charity’s most important areas of work: Cats Protection Lifeline. This cat fostering service provides a temporary, loving home for cats whose families are fleeing domestic abuse. The campaign tells the story of a little girl and her cat. Ava and Mr Biggles are everything to each other, but when Ava and her mum have to leave their home to escape domestic abuse, they can’t take Mr Biggles with them. The campaign film, which will be shown on Channel 4, was created by lukecharles, produced by FLIPT, and directed by the very talented Duncan Christie. Walk in the Park: Dog Distraction Class It’s a different kind of walk in the park at See Differently’s weekly dog distraction classes for our pups in training. At these sessions, volunteers guide the pups through various exercises designed to help them stay focused (despite lots of tempting distractions like other dogs, toys, and people). Sofie and Bree from the puppy team lead the class with lots of tips and tricks to keep the students on the right track! Teaching our dogs these skills early on is essential for them to become well-trained and reliable companions.
