We're thrilled to announce the official launch today of EIC Project BIGALPS, a groundbreaking collaboration aimed at transforming the landscape of soil stabilization!

Project Budget: Nearly 3 million Euros
What is BIGALPS all about? BIGALPS is a project funded via European Innovation Council (GA Number 101113081) and SERI that is on a mission to revolutionize the field of soil stabilization. We're introducing an innovative bio-technology for soil treatment that offers a complete environmentally friendly solution. This technology has the incredible capacity to tackle some of the most critical soil stability issues, including landslides and erosion.
What is EIC?
EIC Transition funds ERC-Adv born innovations that go beyond the experimental proof of principle in laboratory to support both: the maturation and validation of a novel technology in the lab and in relevant application environments. In BIGALPS the technology of biocementation developed during BIOGEOS (GA No. 788587) goes European thanks to our ambitious consortium.
Bio-cementation: At the heart of our project is the pioneering soil improvement technique known as bio-cementation. This technique leverages the metabolic activity of microorganisms to produce calcium carbonate, which binds soil particles together, creating a solid foundation.
Our Goal: Our primary objective is to mature and validate this groundbreaking technology. We aim to make it fully compatible with real-world environments, in line with existing norms and industry standards.

🌱 Exciting News to start 2024! 🌱
We are thrilled to announce that Robin Daenen's PhD project on "Ecostimuli: Developing a framework for assessing the impact of microbial biostimulants on soil ecosystems" has been approved by VLAIO - Flanders Innovation & Entrepreneurship.
At Aphea.Bio, we strongly believe in the power of biostimulants and their potential to enhance soil health and ecosystem services. With this grant, Robin will spearhead the development of innovative methods to measure the impact of our biostimulants and, later on, our biocontrol products on soil health in collaboration with Faculty of Bioscience Engineering UGent / Ghent University and CropFit Services.
Research on soil health indicators is still at an early stage, and our project promises to take a significant leap forward by pushing the boundaries of current knowledge. By quantifying the profound environmental impact of our products, we can not only solidify our position as frontrunners in the industry but also contribute to a more sustainable future. 🌍
We thank VLAIO for supporting our pioneering work, which will undoubtedly make a lasting impact on agriculture and our planet. We are eager to collaborate with experts in the field and accelerate progress towards a greener and more resilient agricultural landscape.
