As professionals and global citizens, we have a collective responsibility to address the root causes of modern slavery. This includes advocating for labor rights, social protection, fair recruitment, and stronger enforcement against forced labor and forced marriage. Join us in supporting these critical policy priorities to create a world free from exploitation. Together, we can make a significant impact in the global fight against modern slavery by 2030. #SocialImpact #PolicyChange https://lnkd.in/gnvKBN8W

Civil rights violations are grave injustices that occur when individuals’ fundamental rights are infringed upon by authorities or institutions. These violations can manifest in various forms, including discrimination, police brutality, voter suppression, and denial of equal opportunities. Such injustices undermine the principles of fairness, equality, and justice enshrined in democratic societies, perpetuating systemic oppression and marginalization. Addressing civil rights violations requires vigilance, accountability, and advocacy for legislative and social reforms. By safeguarding civil liberties and promoting equal treatment under the law, societies can strive towards justice, equity, and respect for all individuals, regardless of race, gender, or creed. #civil #war #peace #race #worldwar3

As we celebrate Juneteenth soon, a day that marks the end of chattel slavery in America, it's important to remember that the fight for true freedom and justice is ongoing. Modern-day slavery still exists within our prison system, where mass incarceration and forced labor perpetuate systemic injustices. Our work is far from over. Together, we can push for reforms to end these practices and ensure a just and equitable society for all. Let's honor the spirit of Juneteenth by continuing the fight for true freedom. #Juneteenth #EndModernSlavery #CriminalJusticeReform

While we're pleased to see many people now understanding the destructive nature of our colonial systems of child removals/trafficking and the criminal legal system, our Ancestors and Elders have been fighting these battles since those ships landed. Our mob/communities across Australia have been raising their voices and fighting for social justice, human rights and equity for mob for this lifetime and beyond. If we are discussing either the criminal legal system or child trafficking systems, then their needs to be adequate representation of mob. These matters disproportionately impact on mob, therefore any spaces, agencies, stakeholders not amplifying the voices of mob are doing it WRONG. You cannot address the racial disparities (or close the gap as non-Aboriginal people like to say) without including the lived experiences, voices and perspectives of justice involved and justice impacted mob. We will continue to hold people accountable and be transparent about our position. #codesign #communityled #survivorled #peerled #expertise #reform #abolition #justiceinvolved #justiceimpacted #amplifyvoices #socialjustice #equity #humanrights #deadlyconnections

On Juneteenth, we honor the historic end of legal slavery in the United States, while recognizing the ongoing journey towards true freedom. Despite progress, the battle against slavery is far from over. Today, the scourge of slavery persists under different guises. In our prisons, Americans are subjected to forced labor for mere cents an hour, a stark echo of past injustices. According to the "Global Estimates of Modern Slavery: Forced Labour and Forced Marriage" (Geneva, September 2022), nearly 50 million people globally endure modern slavery, trapped in forced labor, human trafficking, debt bondage, domestic servitude, and forced marriage. Tragically, about a quarter of these victims are children. As we celebrate Juneteenth, let's reaffirm our commitment to eradicating slavery in all its forms, everywhere. Together, we can create a world where freedom truly prevails. #UntilWeAllAreFree
