Why were famous landmarks like the “Bremer Stadtmusikanten” recently wrapped in paper? Why should you take your time and spend a few seconds longer when buying #chocolate in the supermarket? And what does the chocolate of today need? 🍫 nucao has the answer to all those questions: The Leipzig-based #startup just launched four new chocolate bars in the flavors Roasted Hazelnut Butter, Almond Butter & Sea Salt, Salted Caramel and Crisp & Crunch. We are excited that those new products not only taste absolutely delicious, but also that nucao developed them together with REWE Group and Naturland Zeichen GmbH using only vegan ingredients and fairtrade cacao from agroforestry (an ecologically sustainable cultivation method which not only protects the soil and rainforest, but also diversifies the farmers' sources of income and stabilizes the cocoa harvest against the effects of climate change). All four bars are Naturland-certified and now can be found in Rewe and dm stores. So, next time you want to treat yourself, consider buying a chocolate that is tasty, fair, and vegan. 🤩 nucao's commitment to #sustainability does not stop at their chocolate, though. The packaging consists of paper reducing its ecological footprint about 8 times compared to standard plastic and aluminum foil packaging. To raise awareness of this innovation in the supermarket shelves nucao and Scholz & Friends decided to wrap well-known German landmarks and everyday items in paper in the course of a large-scale guerilla marketing gig on Instagram and TikTok. We are very happy for our portfolio partner given their latest #milestones and are proud to have been part of their successful journey since last year, when we started to support them with campaigns on our channels after a first media deal. Maybe we'll treat ourselves to a little chocolate tasting to celebrate. 🤔😍

Embracing #Sustainability in #Winemaking: A Fusion of #innovation and #tradition. As someone deeply rooted in #Portugueseheritage, my appreciation for fine wine runs in my veins. Yet, beyond the artistry in winemaking lies a vision: a sustainability revolution reshaping the very essence of this cherished tradition. The convergence of artificial intelligence with agribusiness is ushering in a new era for sustainability in winemaking. It's not just about producing exceptional wines; it's about transforming grapes into a multifaceted resource, extending far beyond the wine glass. Picture this: an ecosystem where grapes serve not just the wine industry but also find their way into cosmetics, animal nutrition, and even as a source of energy. The potential is boundless, and the impact on sustainability is profound. Artificial intelligence has empowered us to maximize every facet of grape cultivation, optimizing resources, and minimizing waste. Precision farming techniques guided by AI algorithms ensure the most efficient use of water, pesticides, and fertilizers, minimizing environmental impact without compromising quality. Moreover, the grape, once solely celebrated for its transformation into fine wine, is now a versatile ingredient. Its derivatives in cosmetics promise natural, sustainable alternatives, while its role in animal nutrition ensures nothing goes to waste. Even more fascinating is its potential as an energy source, a testament to its versatility and our capacity for innovation. This holistic approach isn't just about revolutionizing winemaking; it's about catalyzing a sustainable transformation in the entire industry. It's a testament to the fusion of tradition and innovation, where the ancient art of winemaking meets the demands of a modern, conscientious world. Together, AI, agribusiness, and sustainability are scripting a new narrative for the wine industry, one that celebrates not just the taste of fine wines but also their journey, from the vineyard to a multitude of sustainable applications. This paradigm shift marks the evolution of winemaking, promising a future where the humble grape becomes a symbol of sustainability and innovation. 🔮 Here's an early prediction for 2024: Barley maltsters and their brewing and distilling customers will begin a radical change in how they categorise and manage their supply chains. Here's why... ADM's recent "Farming for the Future" report built on the growing evidence that consumers - when educated - are attracted to the "Regenerative Agriculture" product claim: 🤝 73% would be more likely to trust the retailer/brand 💰 72% would be more likely to purchase from them Therefore, brand and product marketers from the world's largest food and beverage brands have a big incentive to "unlock" this novel new product claim. And there are two things, marketers love two things... ✨ Novelty 📈 Sales AHDB - Agriculture and Horticulture Development Board puts consumer awareness at 14%. Whilst research by McCain Foods has it at c. 30%. But as brands pump millions into campaigns designed at educating consumers about the numerous benefits of this approach - and even more into the projects that sit behind then - this number will surely grow. ⛔ However, on the horizon there is a speed bump. Namely the EU Green Claims Directive... For brands, this will mean that they will need to do two things differently: 🌾 Associate the "Regeneratively Grown" claim with a specific ingredient 📑 Evidence that claim with greater supply traceability And this will impact brewers, distillers and their maltsters more than others for two main reasons: 1️⃣ The Craft Beer and Spirits Revolution Brewers and distillers have been at the forefront of using environmental credentials as a way of differentiating their products. As such, they have set a high bar with their customer base. One of which comprises of demographics that is values environmental and social impact more highly than others. 2️⃣ Market Consolidation The maltster middlemen have undergone a huge amount of consolidation over the past decade. This rebalances the influence and bargaining power maltsters have over farmers in many regional markets. I believe the result will be a more proactive segmentation between: 🍃 Sustainable barley supply shed 📊 Commodity barley supply sheds In the sustainable barley supply sheds, increased product margins will be achieved for all parties through a combination of... 💸 A premium will be paid for barley where regenerative practices can be evidenced using initiatives like the SAI Platform [Increasing the farmers margin] ⛓️ Practices-to-plot-to-product traceability will be maintained to evidence the relationship between all three using platforms like Agritask [Increasing the maltsters margin] 🎥 Maltsters will increasingly facilitate storytelling by connecting brands with growers through programs like Malteries Soufflet's Content Factory [Increasing the brands margin]. For any sustainable practice to be sustainable, it also needs to be profitable. The reason why I'm so bullish about Regenerative Agriculture is because I believe it can be. #regenerativeagriculture
