As we reflect on our advocacy efforts during Hill Day for the Transformation to Competitive Integrated Employment Act (S.3238) it's clear how crucial this bill was in enhancing employment standards for individuals with disabilities. By providing grants to support competitive integrated employment, prohibiting subminimum wages, and offering technical assistance to employers, this legislation promotes inclusivity and economic opportunity in Arkansas's workforce, fostering a more equitable and empowered community. https://lnkd.in/etrDfZQ

The United States Department of Labor – Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs (OFCCP), the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC), and The Florida Center for Inclusive Communities (FCIC) will collaborate to host an event discussing Worker’s Rights for Individuals with Disabilities. The webinar will cover Section 503 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 that prohibits federal contractors and subcontractors from discriminating in employment against individuals with disabilities. Section 503 also requires employers to take affirmative action to recruit, hire, promote, and retain individuals with disabilities. The charge/complaint process, and Title I of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) will also be reviewed. In 2021, ND ranked highest in the nation in the employment of people with a vision disability (nearly seven out of 10 were employed). Nationally, about five out of 10 people with a vision disability were employed.
