In light of the recent oil spill in Singapore’s waters, we are diligently working with certified contractors and appointed experts and contractors on the beach clean-up efforts, while actively monitoring and assessing other areas on the island to mitigate further environmental impacts of the oil spill. There had been varying degrees of impact across the three beaches on Sentosa. Siloso Beach is the least impacted, followed by Palawan then Tanjong Beach. Over 300 workers have been deployed daily across Sentosa’s beaches, swiftly engaging in the clean-up efforts with their specialised oil containments and recovery equipment such as skimmers. Beach cleaning machine and mini excavators have also been deployed for quick recovery and shifting of contaminated sand away from the beaches. We are collaborating with MPA’s consultant, International Tanker Owners Pollution Federation ITOPF, to assess suitable recovery efforts for these areas and to assist in the cleaning and restoration of the water quality along the Sentosa beaches. We understand how valuable our beaches are to our guests and residents and hope to be able to re-open our beaches soon. Do watch this space for any updates. #Sentosa
