FEMA's Individual Assistance updates are a step in the right direction, but they're treating the symptoms, not the disease. We need a paradigm shift towards prevention, protection, and mitigation. Why? Because investing upfront saves lives, money, and heartache down the line. FEMA’s own data is clear: every dollar spent on mitigation saves six on response. That's not just a cost saving, it's a life-saving strategy. Imagine resilient communities, shielded by early warning systems, fortified buildings, and updated infrastructure. Imagine lives saved, anxieties quelled, and years of rebuilding avoided. This isn't just about immediate impact; it's about building a future where communities can weather any storm. Mitigation, Prevention, and protection strategies shorten recovery times, minimizes economic disruption, and fosters long-term resilience. It's about empowering communities, not just patching up the aftermath. So, let's ditch the reactive bandaids and embrace proactive solutions. Invest infrastructure, enhance community building codes, educate communities, and leverage technology. Let's make pre-disaster activity the cornerstone of our future, ensuring generations inherit a world where disasters are not nightmares, but manageable bumps in the road. #emergencymanagement #emergencypreparedness #commonsense

On May 2, severe storms hit the northeast Houston region, including northeast Harris County and Montgomery County. We are acutely aware of the significant challenges that individuals and families affected by this disaster are currently encountering. The Greater Houston Disaster Alliance (Disaster Alliance) is diligently working to provide information that will help those impacted. Given the localized impacts of this disaster, the most effective role of the Disaster Alliance at this time is to facilitate connections between those who can give and the nonprofit organizations that are providing direct assistance in affected communities. Visit the Active Disasters page on the Disaster Alliance website for more information on where to give and resources for those seeking assistance. https://lnkd.in/gXrWPZd7 #Disaster #Weather #Resources #HarrisCounty #MontgomeryCounty

I never dreamed I could have an entire conversation about laundry – how people do their laundry, the order they drop products in the washing machine, the temperature of water (please wash in cold), the amount of scent, the brightness, and so much more! It’s fascinating how much people love to talk about laundry, and apparently, I do too! I also learned today is #NationalLaundryDay. Procter & Gamble's Tide brand does more than provide superior cleaning, the brand is also committed to helping individuals and communities who have been affected by natural disasters. Check out how P&G people come together with partners to help for this important cause. #PGinnovation #LoadsofHope

Standing Together: BizLink donates to flood victims and disaster relief in Southern Germany At the end of May 2024, regions in Southern Germany’s states Bavaria and Baden-Württemberg were hit by heavy rainfalls and consequent extreme flooding. The catastrophe has caused six fatalities and numerous injuries. People have lost homes or their economic basis. Infrastructure has been destroyed. Damage runs into billions of dollars. BizLink wants to help the many victims. Our local entities BizLink elocab GmbH and BizLink Industry Germany GmbH, both located in the North of Bavaria, #donate 75,000 € to Bayerisches Rotes Kreuz (BRK) Rotes Kreuz, the Bavarian relief organization of the German Red Cross. On 1 July, Rainer Braun (Kreisgeschäftsführer Kreisverband Südfranken of Bayerisches Rotes Kreuz) was happy to receive two symbolic checks from Guido Bencke (Managing Director at BizLink Industry Germany GmbH) and Thomas Deubel (Managing Director of BizLink elocab GmbH). Our donation shall serve flood victims and help the people in South Germany to overcome this catastrophe. We want to support the work of organizations on the ground who were there during and after the disaster and who continue to help the people in this and many other emergencies. The immediate search for missing persons, the help for injured and desperate victims, and the support in rebuilding homes and infrastructure in destroyed areas are incredibly important activities for which we feel the highest #respect and appreciation. #compassion #bizlink
