Yesterday, our team attended the first bol Platform Summit held in Belgium. 🇧🇪 As usual, it was nice to discuss trends and best practices with fellow e-commerce experts. The diverse seminars provided valuable insights not only about Bol, but also about the state of e-commerce in the Benelux and Europe in general. We appreciated the realistic perspective on industry trends without rose-tinted glasses. Here are our key learnings: ✅ European e-commerce is expected to grow only between 1% and 2% and 2024, yet post-COVID shopping behaviour has permanently changed. ✅ Sustainability is a top priority. Bol will soon introduce refurbished products in various niches. ✅ The rise of Asian e-commerce is concerning. These platforms enter the market quickly, cheaply, and with minimal regulation. ✅ Besides price, efficient logistics have the most significant impact on conversion rates. Less than half of sellers currently manager to offer this. ✅ 50% of sales come from just 30.000 SKUs (out of 45 millions of SKUs). ✅ Legal compliancy will play a major role. ...and did we mention yet that our CEO Steven hosted a breakout session on sales growth opportunities in online marketplaces?
