Three industry events I'm looking forward to in the next three months: This month (10/16-19) - #IMEX23 in Las Vegas ...completing two CEM classes (one in person and one online - book clubs for each are scheduled for this week) ...celebrating our industry at the Events Industry Council Awards (Monday 6pm) ...hosting roundtable discussions at the Future Leaders Forum ...catching up with friends at the IAEE meet up (Thursday 4:30pm) ...and more! Next month (11/8-9) - Exhibitor Group FastTrak in Charlotte ...facilitating one of my favorite workshops on generating more/better quality booth traffic (Thursday AM) ...maybe taking a couple classes too, time permitting In December (12/4-7) - #ExpoExpo in Dallas ...walking across the stage to celebrate earning my #CEM (finishing up my last three classes this month in preparation!) ...supporting new attendees via International Association of Exhibitions and Events (IAEE)'s mentoring program and the Membership Engagement Committee ...attending the chapter receptions (I'm transitioning off of the IAEE Southeast Chapter's board, as my term expires this year, and shifting my primary membership to the IAEE D.C. Chapter for next year, plus it's a great excuse to see my friends from the IAEE DFW Chapter and others too) ...and more! Which industry events are you looking forward to? To clarify a few things re 'The Hull Business Expo' we have been asked - #TheyAskYouAnswer by Marcus Sheridan 1- If its Full can I still walk around. Answer: YES - Its only the stands that are full. Everyone is welcome to visit Princes Quay Shopping Centre on the 10th April and show your support. 2. - Is it just for The Business Culture HEY members. Answer: NO. The expo is open to all business and people in Hull & East Yorkshire and The Humber. 3. Do I need to register and/or buy a ticket to attend. Answer: NO. You do not have to register - the event is FREE to attend. Just come along and support the exhibitors and meet new people. 4. Why should I attend - what's in it for me - is there a free lunch. Answer: WOW - I really did not get this question - What's in it for me! If that's all your thinking about, then its probably best you stay away. The expo is a great chance for us all to Connect, engage and support local businesses, its people and the City of Hull. Please spread the word - the more people know about it the more successful it will be. I love trade shows but convention centers?! 🤯 They welcome groundbreaking innovations on the planet and yet many are still straight out of the Ice Age. 💥Why have massive hallways if they're only used by people sitting on the floor against the walls? In some ccs, adding a resemblance of lounge seating is a "pilot project". Seriously? 🔌Why do they want to rent me a power bank when if there were enough outlets I'd change my phone on a 15-minute break? 📣Why am I forced to overhear everyone's zooms when even my son's third-grade classroom has basic partitions? 🎊Why is the only local connection a statue of a some dignitary with a little plaque? What about the celebration of the local food, music, a pop-up museum, photo ops, interactive storytelling? ✈️Why can Amsterdam airport feel like a cultural melting pot but also a cozy living room and make tens of thousands of passengers a day who don't really want to be there feel welcomed? ♥️Trade shows bring together people passionate about their work: inventors, creators, business visionaries who are crazy about what they do. The best update convention centers can offer them is a new carpet? 🤯 P.S. I have covered hundreds of trade shows and been to dozens of convention centers around the globe, and I see the improvements that are coming post pandemic. They can't come fast enough. 💕
