Today, we celebrate Juneteenth, a day that marks the end of slavery in the United States and a major milestone in our nation's history. On June 19, 1865, the last enslaved African Americans in Texas finally learned of their freedom, more than two years after the Emancipation Proclamation. Juneteenth is a powerful reminder of the resilience and strength of the African American community. It’s also an important opportunity to reflect on the progress we've made toward equality and the work that still lies ahead. In our workplaces, promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) is crucial. Raising awareness and creating inclusive spaces are essential steps in this ongoing journey. #Juneteenth #Diversity #Inclusion #Equity #WorkplaceDiversity #BlackHistory #Progress

Such a beautiful evening and beautiful people. Thanks for hosting this workshop (and inspiring talks). I take lots of learnings and reflections back home. But overall, I believe is wonderful that through initiatives like this one we can find space, language, and tools to have important conversations about: How can we create more open, safe, playful, fluid, loose, self-explorative, and inclusive spaces? How does that look like in your imagination? And how that can be translated to the buildings we interact with? 💖
May 8th I’m co-hosting a meetup in Rotterdam to explore the topic of ✨queer imagination✨ What is the queer imagination? How does it and can it shape the future? And what role do queer spaces have in nurturing it? This meet-up is for queer organisers / people active in queer nightlife / designers / futurists / artists / activists / academics & researchers or anyone interested :) 📅 Wednesday 8th of May from 19:00 📍 Location: .zip space, Rotterdam 🎟️ The event is free, but let us know if you’re coming: https://lnkd.in/gBdGtfFA Hosted together with Killian Poolmans (he/him), Lucy J.H. Schreurs, Eva Ventura, Dorian Kingma, and TJ Rivera
