How to network like a pro: [First, make sure you save this for later!] 1️⃣ Make a plan. Think about your ideal customers and referral partners, and be strategic about the type of events you attend. 2️⃣ Givers gain. Use the rule of reciprocity: if you give to others, they’ll want to give back to you and everyone wins! 3️⃣ Be prepared. Craft a unique elevator pitch that tells others who you are and how you help people. 4️⃣ Follow up! Make sure you collect contact information (business cards are convenient) so that you can do a little research later, and keep in touch with the connections you make. Over the weekend I attended an awards gala for small business owners, and as an extrovert I left with my cup overflowing. I’ve made so many incredibly powerful connections that have withstood time, distance and industry. So grateful for everyone in my circle 🧡 #networkingevent #networkingbusiness #businessnetworking

I love the IFA Convention! I’m a panel speaker, a round table facilitator, and I facilitate the New Member & First Time Attendees reception. Sharing tips: if you have others, please add in comments! 10 Tips for Success at the IFA Convention 1) Expect to be overwhelmed. You hear there’s 4,000 people there, but it doesn’t hit you until you see it. 2) If there’s someone you want to meet, arrange it ahead of time. You won’t just ‘bump into them’ or somehow ‘meet up.’ Strategic planning will prevent you from missing an opportunity. 3) Map out now what you want to attend. It’s too difficult to ‘figure it out’ when you are there. Download the IFA convention app and schedule what you want to attend. 4) Expect to be disappointed --that you can’t attend everything. There’s a lot of really fran-tastic things going on concurrently and events overlap. Stop worrying about what you are missing and instead focus your attention on learning from what you are attending. 5) If you are attending for your first time, go to the New Member & First Time Attendees reception and workshop session. This is on Saturday, Feb 17 at 3:15 – 4:15 pm. I help facilitate this and it’s a blessing to newbies. Also pick up & wear the First Time Attending ribbon from registration . People go out of their way to help newbies navigate things. 6) Get up and leave if something is not of interest to you. Sometimes you go into a workshop and it’s not what you thought it was going to be, or it's not relevant to your needs. Get up and go to something else. It’s not school so no one will report you for leaving early :) 7) Don’t know anyone around you? Who cares! Say hello!! We are ALL franchise nerds and there to make connections. A great Ice Breaker: “This is my first IFA convention. Any tips?” 8) On the same note, don’t just hang with people you know. It’s so easy to do, but you have a real opportunity to meet new people who can influence your business. That said, attend events for things that interest you: Diversity, Women in Franchising, Pride Committee, International, VetFran etc. There’s movers and shakers at receptions and open meetings. See what interests you and get involved. 9) Be an adult. Sure, having fun and socializing is great but staying out all night drinking will make you exhausted the next day. This isn’t spring break. You are there to learn. Make good use of your time, get rest, and be fresh each day. 10) Apply what you learn. Nothing is worse than getting terrific information then throwing all your notes in a desk drawer or in a file on your laptop and not implementing. Action is what separates the good from the great. Ideas die on the vine if they aren’t nurtured. Get busy as soon as you get home. FranServe, Inc. is at Booth 1122.
