SCZONE’s Chairman received a delegation from the Kenya Special Economic Zone (SEZA), as part of the delegation’s tour inside Egypt to develop guidelines for evaluating special economic zones and operating manual for the economic zones program in Kenya. The visit aims to benefit from SCZONE’s experience with the entry of goods from SCZONE into the local market, in addition to exploring the system of taxes, customs, and exemptions. This is under the auspices of the Japan International Cooperation Agency “Jica” as part of its program to support economic zones in East African countries to help them develop their working strategies The delegation went on a field visit that included visits to the industrial developer (TEDA – Egypt) and the industrial developer (Orascom Industrial Parks), Also, the delegation will conclude its tour by visiting the East Port Said Industrial Zone and East Port Said Port to learn from the experience of the Suez Canal Economic Zone. رئيس اقتصادية قناة السويس يستقبل وفدًا كينيًّا من المنطقة الاقتصادية الخاصة SEZA، وذلك ضمن الجولة التي يقوم بها الوفد داخل مصر لوضع المبادئ التوجيهية لتقييم المناطق الاقتصادية الخاصة ودليل تشغيل برنامج المناطق الاقتصادية في كينيا، بهدف الاستفادة من تجربة وخبرة اقتصادية قناة السويس، فيما يتعلق بدخول سلع المنطقة الاقتصادية للسوق المحلي، بالإضافة إلى معرفة منظومة الضرائب والجمارك والإعفاءات بالمنطقة الاقتصادية، وذلك تحت رعاية وكالة اليابان للتعاون الدولي “Jica” ضمن برنامجها لدعم المناطق الاقتصادية بعدد من دول شرق إفريقيا لمساعدتها على تطوير أُطر العمل بها، كما توجه الوفد إلى زيارة ميدانية شملت زيارات للمطور الصناعي (تيدا – مصر)، والمطور الصناعي (اوراسكوم للمناطق الصناعية)، والجدير بالذكر أن الوفد سيختتم جولته بزيارة منطقة شرق بورسعيد الصناعية وميناء شرق بورسعيد للتعرف على تجربة المنطقة الاقتصادية لقناة السويس. another memorandum of understanding signed between the two countries relating to ports, stressing that Morocco has granted, in accordance with high royal directives, a special status to large ports which have a strategic dimension, adding that Morocco now has today the port of Nador West Med and the Atlantic port of Dakhla, which will benefit from investments by the State of the United Arab Emirates. The ports of Nador West Med, located on the Mediterranean coast of Morocco, and the Atlantic port of Dakhla are both important maritime infrastructures for Morocco. Indeed, these ports play strategic roles in the economic and commercial development of the country. The investments of the State of the United Arab Emirates in these ports can be seen as a recognition of their economic potential and their importance for Morocco, as well as an opportunity to strengthen economic and commercial ties between the United Arab Emirates and the Morocco. These investments could help improve port infrastructure, increase their capacity, introduce new technologies and stimulate economic activities in these regions, particularly in the areas of trade, logistics, fishing, tourism and industry. By supporting the development of these ports, the UAE could also strengthen its economic influence in the region, while contributing to Morocco's economic growth and development.

Thailand is poised to launch a national shipping company as part of a strategic move to bolster its maritime trade and enhance its standing in the global shipping sector. The Transport Ministry, under the guidance of Deputy Transport Minister Manaporn Charoensri, has tasked the Port Authority of Thailand (PAT) with conducting a comprehensive feasibility study, the results of which will be evaluated by the entire cabinet. An essential aspect of this endeavor is to decide whether the shipping firm will operate as a state-owned entity or adopt a public-private partnership model. This ambitious project aims to contribute around 2% of Thailand's import and export trade value, with an initial operation set to commence with four container vessels. This decision aligns with Thailand's vision to amplify its role in international maritime trade and enhance its competitiveness on the global stage. On this months issue of Financial Nigeria International Limited , I discuss the recent extension of the Nigerian maritime boundary as confirmed and approved by the Commission of the Limitation of Continental Shelf, from 200 nautical miles to 220 nautical miles seaward and into the Gulf of Guinea. This means that Nigeria can now redraw the territorial map of its sovereignty in the Gulf of Guinea, thereby granting the right to exploit the abundant carbon and marine resources believed to be present in the area. In light of this, I hope that the federal government, with the help of experts and the marine and blue economy, focuses on developing their new found territory for the purposes of advancing economic growth through the maritime industry.
