We need to do what needs to be done and to do it in the interest of all. When we create trust and collaboration. From this space we can work together and do great things. We can engage the life's force of everyone in addressing our common challenges When we are not united we individually and collectively are unable to achieve what is required of us. We need to act as a species on a planetary scale. We must understand that we are at a crisis point and need a paradigm shift in Human Consciousness and Human Behavior. This doesn't suggest domination by minorities or those who are working in self-interest or in the desire for power but in creating collective understanding so that we can act as a species on a planetary scale. We need to have the correct intentions to have a universal outcome and the support of everyone for the good of all.
Understand our Earthshot! Last year there were 2.2 trillion unsustainable concrete blocks manufactured using old technology from 1899. If we apply the same number/size with all natural, climate resilient, ceramic components (89% less CO2 60% lower cost) and leverage automated manufacturing = a home for every human being on Earth in 2 years. Imagine when the marginal cost of housing comes to zero and we have an abundance of healthy homes in regenerative villages. Co-Lead, Strategy and Research @ Pause and Effect // Abolitionist by Design // Fashionista gone rogue // Unapologetic pain-in-the-ass from the future
Super excited to co-facilitate this learning experience with Sabrina Meherally later this week. Abolition Futures invites us to reflect on our relationships with systems of policing and harm, while practicing building futures where we can be free. Often, we have a tendency to think about systems as an abstract, intellectual concept rather than noticing how they live, breathe, and are felt. Systems of oppression are designed to be invisible unless we are actively being harmed by them. They continue to thrive through our practices, relationships, and ways of being with each other, and how they are entangled with carcerality. Why are we conditioned to police ourselves and our bodyminds? We need to reorient how we engage with ourselves, each other, lands and waters, and the ecosystems we are a part of. This is why I like to come back to the idea of what our ancestral duties and responsibilities are. What worlds are we trying to create? What futures are we trying to build and practice? Join us on September 28 or 29 to get our hands dirty with some radical dreaming, imagination, and experimentation. You can purchase your tickets here (available on a sliding scale): https://lnkd.in/gBhKh-qY #Design #Futures #Research #Abolition

The Brandywine River bridge makes up a portion of the Delaware Turnpike, carrying I-95 traffic over the Brandywine River in Wilmington, Delaware. The bridge was constructed throughout the mid-1960s and, as it happens, the opening ceremony for the Delaware Turnpike was one of John F. Kennedy’s last public appearances before his assassination. When this project was in its planning phases, the structural engineers were tasked with analyzing the bridge using today’s design vehicle loads. The bridge contains two types of piers, hammerhead piers in the approach spans and arch piers in the middle spans. The structural engineers decided the strut-and-tie method was the most appropriate and accurate way to analyze these piers. Learn how Fyfe FRP's Tyfo assist with the structure's rehabilitation. https://ow.ly/sZf250QFHBM #StructuralStrengthening #Rehabilitation #Repair

Baltimore’s historic buildings are being damaged by people’s pee. The City is planning on installing more public restrooms downtown, which is a great—and sorely needed—solution, and one rooted in the past. More than a century ago, cities like Baltimore were busy installing public ”comfort stations” for this very reason. Nearly every US city abandoned these public restrooms, branding them, in turn, as “nuisances.” Although the article mentions that the problem is the acidity of urine, it turns out that most human urine is circumneutral in pH and usually no more acidic than rainwater. Rather than “acid,” the problem is likely to be due to the destructive actions of salts, from the urine, that have a propensity to destroy porous masonry. A big component of urine is urea, an organic salt. Urine also has inorganic chloride, sodium, and potassium ions, as well, which help to form salts. https://lnkd.in/gx8a_DJA
