#menopausesupport #menopauseatwork #menopauseintheworkplace #menopauseawareness 🔸 Mid-life women face an additional psychological burden in the workplace when affected by menopausal symptoms. 🔸 Moreover, this also comes at a cost - due to lost work time. 🔸 In the United States, this could cost up to $1.8 billion, according to an estimate by the Mayo Clinic. When medical expenses are added, this climbs to $28 billion. 🔸 Based on a survey of Mayo Clinic patients, with responses from over 5,200 women (4,440 of them employed), the study shows that menopause is not just an annoying phase. 🔸 It negatively impacts productivity, results in significant medical costs and reduces women's opportunities for career advancement. 🔸 But this doesn't have to happen. Employers need to start taking steps to support women at work. Learn more: https://lnkd.in/eTHtVy3s

If you want to be a top-performing company in 2024 and you’re not offering menopause and women’s health support... You might want to think again. 👉 48% of the workforce is made up of women (McKinsey & Company) 👉 25m women pass through menopause every year (NIH) 👉 Global productivity lost to menopause symptoms has topped $150 billion annually (Bloomberg) But yet, these conditions are dramatically overlooked in the workplace. 1 in 3 workers between the ages of 18-24 said that 🔴 menopause leave 🔴 menstrual leave 🔴 other women’s support are key benefits that would attract them to a workplace. The time to invest in women’s health is NOW 💜

Interesting research about the impact of #menopauseatwork . Supports previous data that around half of all peri/menopausal women at work report a negative impact on performance, career progression (most notable in senior management), lack of support in the workplace and most not raising these issues with their management teams. What a waste of talent! Good news-a quarter reported increased personal awareness due to their menopause journey. We know menopause can be a wake up call and opportunity to improve overall health and wellbeing and assess life's purpose and intentions. Also, an optimistic view of menopause is correlated with better workplace experience. At viv Health, we strongly believe that we should be helping women REDUCE the bothersome symptoms of menopause so they can get on with their life, rather than trying to accommodate those symptoms with extra leave, fans and water coolers. This can just make women feel more isolated and does NOT reduce suffering.
