Hi there! Welcome to another #ThursdayThoughts! Todays topic is: Menopause in the workplace Did you know menopause is a protected characteristic? Employers can support their staff by: 1. Implementing flexible work policies: Offer flexible working hours or the possibility to work from home. This helps employees manage symptoms and maintain productivity. 2. Providing educational resources: Educate all employees about menopause to foster understanding and reduce stigma. Workshops or informational materials can be very helpful. 3. Creating a supportive culture: Encourage open conversations about menopause and provide access to support networks or employee resource groups focused on health and wellness. Thank you, The New York Times for shedding light on the need for menopause-friendly workplaces. Women are a driving force in the economy, and supporting them through menopause isn’t just about their health—it’s about the success of society as a whole. Menopause symptoms like hot flashes, sleep disturbances, and mood changes can deeply impact productivity and quality of life. That’s why we’re advocating for workplaces to implement policies that make this transition smoother, such as flexible scheduling, breathable uniforms, and health care plans that cover menopause treatments. When we support women in the workplace, we empower the entire workforce. #LetsTalkMenopause #MenopauseAtWork #SupportWomen #WomensHealth #InclusiveWorkplaces

I'm pleased to witness the advancements in supporting menopausal women in the workplace. It's inspiring to see companies like Commonwealth Bank, KPMG, Accenture, and BHP joining Menopause Friendly Australia's initiatives. This commitment is essential in dismantling barriers for women and fostering more inclusive work environments. Recognising women's unique challenges during menopause is crucial. Companies should offer education tailored to supporting women's physiology during this phase, encompassing aspects like specific nutrition programs for this time of life that support hormone balance, targeted exercise programs, gut health, stress management, and time management, to name a few. Such initiatives are pivotal in promoting workplace equality and inclusivity. #MenopauseSupport #InclusiveWorkplaces #GenderEquality #WellnessAtWork #LifestyleStrategies #MidlifeWellness #LifestyleImprovementsForBetterWorkPerformance

Women are carrying a heavier load. ⚖️ A recent McKinsey Health Institute study of over 30,000 employees across 30 countries found that women are experiencing higher levels of exhaustion and stress than men. And perimenopause and menopause are major factors contributing to this. It's time to talk openly about the challenges women face during this life stage. From hot flashes and sleep disturbances to mood swings and brain fog, menopause can significantly impact both personal and professional lives. How can we create more supportive workplaces and communities for women going through perimenopause and menopause? Let's start the conversation. #womenshealth #menopause #workplacewellness #mentalhealth #exhaustion #stress #leadership #diversityandinclusion

It was great to visit the Health & Safety and Workplace event at the NEC yesterday. Lots of companies offering advice about wellbeing and even periods. However there was no one offering specific advice about menopause. Once it was known that I am a menopause coach, several people wanted to discuss the matter. There is a huge need for menopause awareness in the workplace but not enough businesses understand this need. Every year thousands of women leave the workplace due to the impact of menopause symptoms. Simple changes could make all the difference to retaining these employees. #workplacewellness
