Concentricity deviation and dynamic shaft runout are two of the many operating parameters that affect seal performance and service life. Therefore, these two parameters should be kept within a small range, especially when there is a pressure differential across the seal. The total deviation should never exceed 1.3 times the allowable value of coaxiality deviation. Shaft runout (or roll, DRO) describes the dynamic eccentricity of a shaft. Especially at high speeds, the sealing lip may not be able to follow the sealing surface of the shaft due to inertia. If the eccentricity is too large and the distance between the sealing lip and the shaft becomes larger than the thickness required to maintain the liquid lubricating film, the sealing medium will overflow through the gap. We therefore recommend placing the seal as close to the bearing as possible and keeping the bearing operating clearance to a minimum.
