Last week, Small Business Association for International Companies (SBAIC) attended USAID's 15th Annual Small Business Conference "Partnering for Impact: Equity in Procurement". We were able to engage in important discussions surrounding emerging trends such as localization and small business partnerships, while networking with existing and prospective members, #USAID, small biz partners, and industry experts. We were overjoyed to hear SBAIC member CCI Group - Interpretation & Translation and CCI Group Founder, Indy Vega, received recognition in Administrator Samantha Power’s speech, highlighting the incredible interpretation services CCI Group provides to government agencies. “A lack of translation is a major barrier for local organizations looking to work with USAID, looking to access USAID funding and support. It was an honor to be recognized by Administrator Samantha Power for our interpretation services and our role in breaking down language barriers for local organizations seeking to work with USAID. We are proud to be part of USAID's commitment to language access and creating opportunities for small businesses.
A huge thank you to Kimberly Ball and her colleagues at USAID OSDBU. Because of their efforts we have a fighting chance to secure contracts and show we can do more than large businesses can. Administrator Samantha Power did a great job of explaining why US small business is a driver of USAID's localization effort. Instead of that localization is supplanting US small business. Hoping OSDBU gets an A from the SBA next year and that invite to the White House!
