💥💥💥Whether you believe it or not, at this very moment you have the potential to accomplish extraordinary things!💥💥💥 The FINAL of our Aramark UK Chef of the Year 2024 competition is on Thursday 8th March and our talented chefs from all parts of our business will compete against each other to claim a coveted place in our Aramark global competition in TORONTO later this year!! 🤩 I’ve been thinking about how I approached these things over the years, so here’s a few top tips of how I received competition golds: 🎯Practice, Practice, Practice! 🎯Challenge yourself, be passionate & be creative! 🎯Follow the competition rules. 🎯M. E. P it’s should be perfect, leave nothing to chance. 🎯Stay calm, try to focus on the task at hand! 🎯Talking of hands- they will shake- don’t panic it’s just adrenalin!! 🎯Manage your time and remember to take deep breaths! (I used to sing the same song) 🎯If you find yourself beginning to panic, its ok to take a moment, refocus & get cracking!! 🎯Be confident, think positively, you deserve to be here! 🎯Value your skills, trust yourself and your ability. 🎯Most importantly have fun!! 💫If you don’t win this time, it ok. Take it for what it is, a competition and not the end of something but an opportunity to learn massively from the experience. Intentionality & Connection. Recently the Senior Leadership team at AMFM Healthcare read Will Guidara's book, "Unreasonable Hospitality" Our goal was twofold: 1) We've found that when we, as a team, engage with with thoughtful content, it brings us closer and pushes us to consider new ideas. 2) As an organization we believe that hospitality is essential in our mission of bringing the highest quality care to as many people as possible. The book created a lot of interesting dialogue as AMFM's leaders discussed parallels between fine dining and mental healthcare. One quote has resonated with me: "In restaurants, our reason for being is to make people feel, seen, it's to make them feel welcome, it's to give them a sense of belonging. The food, the service, the design, they are simply ingredients in the recipe of human connection".

He said: "I am so excited to be here; I believe in and love this restaurant with all my heart. I'm also clear about what my job is, which is to do what's best for the restaurant, not to do what's best for any of you. More often than not, what's best for the restaurant will include doing what's best for you. But the only way I can take care of all of you as individuals is by always putting the restaurant first."…. ….Unreasonable Hospitality…. Since the weekend, my social feed has been flooded with commentary about the chef who posted his all-male, all-white chef brigade. The post went viral, and made its way into the national press, less because of the picture and more because of his reaction to the picture – which was zero accountability. I personally have nothing to say on the matter, as instances like this are precisely why Be Inclusive Hospitality exists, and the quote below sums up what we Be Inclusive Hospitality does and how we will do it. “The secret of change is to focus all your energy, not on fighting the old, but on building the new”- Socrates. Much of our work is routed in amplifying both the visibility and the voices of black and brown folk in hospitality, and the BIH Spotlight Awards aims to do this, spotlighting the brilliant, exceptional, and talented individuals and businesses often invisible in the “mainstream” industry. The good news is that you ALL can play a part in helping to make the awards spectacular by NOMINATING a peer, team member, leader or business within your network who deserves to be recognised!
