At Saur, biodiversity preservation lies at the heart of our mission. On this World Biodiversity Day, we take pride in highlighting our concrete actions to protect wildlife and flora. In addition to supplying water to 400,000 residents of Las Palmas, in the Canary Islands, Emalsa, a public-private collaboration between the Saur Group and the City Council of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, actively commits to biodiversity preservation through numerous initiatives. ➡️ EMALSA manages a maintenance and conservation contract for the care of Canary Island palm trees and washingtonias located on its premises. This involves periodic inspections, pruning, and phytosanitary treatments. ➡️ Furthermore, in the realm of biodiversity care and protection, EMALSA maintains an ongoing contract for the study and analysis of benthic and fish organisms in the marine environment, aiming to assess the impact of our activities on the environment. ➡️ At the Barranco Seco wastewater treatment plant, we undertake reforestation efforts with indigenous plants to preserve local biodiversity. We aim to raise public awareness about the importance of biodiversity and to encourage sustainable practices, thus inspiring other companies to protect our planet for future generations. #MissionWater #InternationalDayforBiologicalDiversity

A monumental week for Australian biodiversity! 🐨🌳 In great news for Australia's incredible flora and fauna, the amended Nature Repair Bill made its way through the Senate this week! The Nature Repair Bill will provide a mechanism for private and philanthropic investment to protect nature and wildlife, addressing a clear funding gap for biodiversity in Australia. This is intended to allow for biodiversity projects to operate alongside ACCU carbon projects, offering the opportunity for landowners to seek biodiversity and carbon credits on the same project when criteria such as additionality can be demonstrated. Here at the CFF, we welcome this bill passing - particularly given the amendments made. Removal of biodiversity offsets should eliminate greenwashing of habitat destruction, and ensure a net biodiversity gain. Separately, the expanded scope for a 'water trigger' on fracking projects is a brilliant win for our climate too! We congratulate the work of the Government and the Greens in achieving this, and are grateful the feedback from scientists and conservation experts was listened to. We know there is still some way to go, and hope that these ideals can be upheld. We have spent the last 3 years helping landholders deliver high-integrity carbon projects, and ensuring they are fairly rewarded for this. We are now seeking to apply the same approach to deliver services in the biodiversity and land restoration space. If you are considering commencing or collaborating on a biodiversity project soon we would love to hear from you. Albania no! Not you as well! We do not need to join in with the rest of the worlds trend in destroying nature! THERE IS ANOTHER WAY, where we put nature first! "The *ILLEGAL* construction work of Vlora airport is taking place within one of the most important ligatines and areas of biodiversity and along the Adriatic trail, which constitutes the most important corridor for migratory birds; Vjosa-Narté Protected Landscape. Albanian authorities are violating both national laws and international conventions, and rejecting the remarks and recommendations of international institutions. Environmental organizations, Protection and Preservation of Natural Environment in Albania and AOS-Albanian Ornithological Society have appealed this issue to the Court of Appeal, since the Albanian administrative court dismissed the lawsuit against the planned airport in Narta Laguna.” Please share we cannot allow this to happen! #VjosaNarta #togetherforvjosanarta #noairportinvjosanarta #biodiversity #conservation #naturelover #protectnature #wildlifeconservation #wildlifelovers #ancientalbania #albania #wisdom
Martin Eggen, Nature conservation adviser at Birdlife Norway's secretariat, highlights a crucial truth: Vjosa Narta isn't just a place, it's a world-renowned haven for birds and biodiversity. Its protection is vital not only for our generation but for all future ones. Let's stand together to safeguard this ecological treasure. #VjosaNarta #Biodiversity #Albania BirdLife Norge

🌍 In celebration of World Nature Conservation Day, take a stand and join the global effort to conserve rare and migratory birds! 🐦 Congress is considering the bipartisan International Conservation Act. This legislation will boost conservation funding worldwide — improving management of conserved areas, protecting biodiversity, and helping to combat climate change. 🌱 This initiative is vital for rare, threatened, and migratory bird species like the Golden-winged Warbler, Wood Thrush, Red-fronted Macaw, Andean Condor, and Rufous Hummingbird.🦜 The International Conservation Act isn't just about conserving birds — it's about preserving our planet with the understanding that the foundation for a healthy society is a healthy environment. One of the ways this bipartisan, bicameral bill would make a real impact on global conservation efforts is through providing grant opportunities to projects in low- to middle-income countries with a high degree of biodiversity. 🌟 Your support can make a difference! Let Congress know you stand for bird conservation and urge them to back this crucial legislation. Happy International Day for Biodiversity! This year's theme, "Be Part of the Plan," calls us all to join forces in halting and reversing biodiversity loss. At Sibelco, we’re committed to being active participants in this mission through various conservation and research initiatives. 🐾 In Brazil, we’ve dedicated 40% of our Jaguaruna quarry to conservation, creating a sanctuary where incredible wildlife like the elusive Margay thrive. 🐝 In Belgium, our pollinator research under the Green Deal is exploring how quarries can promote attractive spots for wild pollinators. 🌿 Our global research efforts are uncovering how quarries can become biodiversity hotspots. From the Roselière program in France to sand lizard studies in Baskarp, we’re learning how to restore and enhance these unique environments. 🌱 This year, we’re rolling out a biodiversity management plan across all our locations, aiming for full implementation by 2030. This underscores our dedication to making biodiversity a cornerstone of our operations. ❗ The protection of wolves in Europe is not only a matter of ecological importance, but also a reflection of our commitment at national, European and international level to the preservation of biodiversity and the values of coexistence and tolerance. Wolves form an integral part of Europe's natural heritage, playing a vital role in maintaining ecosystem balance and biodiversity, and the return of the wolf to parts of Europe where the species was previously extinct is a major conservation success that should not to be put at risk. Today's announcement by the European Commission also stands in stark contrast to a recently published survey of rural communities' perceptions of coexistence with Large Carnivores. Its results show that 68% of rural residents believe that wolves should be strictly protected and more than two-thirds (72%) agree that coexistence between humans and wolves should be achieved. Fantastic to see WeForest 🌿's project with AES Brasil and Ceiba Consultoria featured by UNEP-WCMC! The #AtlanticForest - once 6x the size of the UK - spans #Brazil, #Argentina, and #Paraguay. Only 30% of its fragmented tree canopy remains, and yet it holds ~5% of our world's #species. On top of that, the Atlantic Forest biome is home to the sources of drinking #water for 70% of Brazilians. There are countless other #forests and #ecosystems that many of us have never heard of or engaged with - but they are absolutely critical. That's why at WeForest 🌿 we're fighting not only for recognisable forests like the #Amazon, but also the overlooked ecosystems that are vital for the health of #People. #Nature. and #Climate. 📖 Read the #UNEP highlight here: https://lnkd.in/e5ekF3Yy
