Thanks Farah S. for mentioning that the SME Finance Forum, Managed by the IFC (International Finance Corporation) is at the forefront of the work to close the SME Finance Gap for Women Entrepreneurs. The IFC estimates that there is a $300 billion financing gap that exists for women-owned small businesses globally. More than 70% of women owned small and medium sized enterprises (SMEs) have insufficient or no access to financial services.  What more can be done by financial institutions in order to address these barriers? This year marks the midpoint for the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) where global governments committed to achieving gender equality and empowering all women and girls by 2030. With dedicated and increased investment in evidence-based and practice-informed GBV prevention strategies, countries will be able to achieve SDG 5 and accelerate the implementation of all other SDGs by 2030.
