Have you ever asked a supervisor for help with your caseload? Did they shut you down and tell you about how there is no budget for that? They probably are not lying, but they may also not realize how Medicaid works in many states. As OT practitioners, we must understand the financial side of education systems if we want to increase our odds of getting the support we want and need. That is why tomorrow, I'll share with nearly 10,000 school-based OT practitioners, the importance of understanding Medicaid Reimbursement as a school-based OT practitioner. The more you understand Medicaid and other financial supports for education, the more you can influence how that money gets spent. Last week The King's Fund published a new report on shifting NHS care away from hospitals and closer to people's homes. Louise Ansari our Chief Executive welcomes their calls for a focus on primary and community care, saying it is the most common area of concern for patients feeding back their experiences. "Focusing support to NHS teams to deliver care closer to home will support many people get the right help in the right place. Although some patients prefer to travel longer distances for specialist advice or for continuity of care, others prioritise speed of access. And in most cases, that will be in their local community. “As ever, there must be ongoing engagement to understand people’s preferences at each interaction with the health service, and to support a culture of listening to and involving patients as decision makers in their own care. “And ultimately, we need to see improvements made to primary and community care. This includes investment in social care reform, expanding patient transport support to non-hospital services, supporting GP teams to deliver 24/7 access to e-triage, and giving people meaningful choices at the point of booking their appointments.” https://bit.ly/4bVFbPF

Isla is making a significant impact in reducing NHS waitlists and readmission rates. Our solution can validate your waitlists, provide an operational dashboard to monitor progress while also supporting remote postoperative surveillance which results in earlier discharge and reduced readmissions. Our platform is currently in use across multiple NHS sites and has collaborated with Palantir Technologies’s Foundry operating system to tackle the backlog. At Chelsea and Westminster Hospital NHS Foundation Trust, Isla’s integration has facilitated a preoperative assessment (POA) pathway that deploys digital questionnaires to patients assessing their need for surgery and any pertinent changes in a patient’s condition. This innovative approach has led to the removal of almost 20k patients from the waitlist during the pilot phase. A Partner Trust using Isla to monitor post surgical SSi has seen a 6x reduction in the likelihood of readmission across 6 sites and an 8x reduction in the need for surgical intervention in patients who are readmitted. This lack of transparency can make it difficult for families to make informed decisions about their loved ones' care. At Golden Companions, we believe in open communication and accountability. We're committed to ensuring that every dollar invested in our care goes directly towards providing exceptional service to our clients. CMS is promoting an unfunded mandate. The Biden Administration is “cracking down” on nursing homes. And managed care has spent the last decade driving down utilization. The reality is, SNFs have to step up and fend for themselves. This self-determination is the inspiration for the 2024 LTC 100: 𝗠𝗶𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗖𝗿𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗰𝗮𝗹: 𝗦𝗲𝗶𝘇𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗖𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗿𝗼𝗹 𝗼𝗳 𝗖𝗲𝗻𝘀𝘂𝘀, 𝗠𝗮𝗿𝗴𝗶𝗻 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗜𝗺𝗮𝗴𝗲. Whether your priority is workforce, reimbursement, advocacy or innovation, at LTC 100 you’ll be among the most enterprising leaders assembled around a common cause: to help position SNFs for future success. 📅 May 5 to 8, 2024 📍 Grand America Hotel, Salt Lake City, UT 🟦 View Program: https://lnkd.in/er8aYwXy 🟦 Request an invite: https://lnkd.in/eDehzaET
