Promotions are an exciting time at the Sheriff’s Office as we celebrate the achievements of our own and support them as they embark on the next chapter in their careers. Last week, Sheriff Christina Corpus, fellow Sheriff’s Office colleagues, friends and family, celebrated the official swearing in of this group of emerging leaders, role models, and mentors who will help shape the future of the Office. Congratulations to Lieutenant Aquino, Sergeant Chiu, Sergeant Hathaway, Sergeant Miqueo, Sergeant Tashiro and Sergeant Zapata! We can’t wait to see all you will accomplish.

We’re proud to recognize two of our outstanding professional staff members, Jennifer Prado and Nicole Mejia, who graduated last week from the Chamber San Mateo County Leadership Program! The 10-month leadership program is a premier academy that welcomes leaders at all levels and in all organizations in San Mateo County and equips them with the knowledge, tools and opportunities to evolve their skills to the next level in leadership and service. Congratulations to our newest Deputy Sheriff, Osvaldo Flores Hernandez, on successfully completing the Alameda County Sheriff's Office 179th Academy! Earlier this week, Sheriff Christina Corpus warmly welcomed Deputy Hernandez to the San Mateo County Sheriff's Office team as he took the stage for graduation. We are incredibly proud of Deputy Hernandez and look forward to all he will accomplish while serving as a guardian for San Mateo County.

Congratulations are in order for our two newest Correctional Officers! Following three months of training, Correctional Officer Cornett and Correctional Officer Hernandez officially graduated last week from the Santa Clara County Correctional Officer Academy. Sheriff Christina Corpus and members of the Executive Team attended the ceremony and celebrated as Correctional Officer Cornett, who also served as Class President, was recognized with an inspiration award. We are proud of how they represented San Mateo County and we know they will serve with compassion, dignity, and respect in our correctional facilities.

Our professional staff members are the behind-the-scenes heroes who keep the Sheriff's Office running smoothly. We're proud to recognize Criminal Records Manager Jennifer Prado and Neil Metrillo of the Technical Services Unit who recently graduated from the prestigious Civilian Leadership Institute (CLI). This comprehensive five month program provides aspiring civilian public safety leaders with the opportunity to develop their skills and strategies in order to become effective leaders. We're honored to support the professional and personal development of our team members. Congratulations, Jen and Neil!

Earlier this week, we gathered to celebrate and welcome 22 new members to the San Mateo County Sheriff's Office! 8 deputies, 9 correctional officers, and several newly promoted professional staff members were all sworn in by Sheriff Christina Corpus in front of family, friends, and peers. Within this group is a remarkable reservoir of experience, expertise, and commitment. To each individual here - we commend your heart for service and we thank you for choosing to safeguard our community!

Congratulations to our two newest Deputy Sheriff's on their graduation from the Sacramento Sheriff's Office Academy! Yesterday, Sheriff Corpus and the Executive Team attended the graduation ceremony to personally congratulate and welcome Deputy Pillay and Deputy Gutierrez to the team. Later this week, Deputies Pillay and Gutierrez will start their first shifts in San Mateo County, serving our community.
