June is Pride Month Read More: https://conta.cc/45coHiM We are thrilled to celebrate Pride Month and honor the invaluable contributions of the LGBTQ community. While it is a time of celebration, it is also a time to acknowledge the ongoing struggles for equality, acceptance, and mental health support within the community. Inequity and trauma harms mental health, and LGBTQ individuals experience mental health struggles at higher rates than others – especially depression, anxiety disorders, substance abuse and suicidal thoughts. As an organization, the Center is committed to providing compassionate, competent, and comprehensive behavioral healthcare to our clients, irrespective of race, color, ethnicity, religion, gender identity or gender expression. June is Pride Month, a time to celebrate the LGBTQ community and recognize the ongoing struggle for equality and acceptance. As a psychology student, I understand the profound impact that social acceptance and mental health support can have on individuals' well-being. Pride Month is not just about celebrating identities; it is also a call to action to address the mental health challenges faced by the LGBTQ community. Studies show that LGBTQ individuals are at a higher risk for mental health issues due to stigma, discrimination, and lack of support. As future psychologists, it is crucial for us to advocate for inclusive practices and create safe spaces where everyone can thrive. This month, let's commit to learning more about the unique experiences and needs of the LGBTQ community. Let's use our knowledge to foster acceptance, provide compassionate care, and promote mental wellness for all. This week is LGBTQ Health Awareness Week. Individuals who identify as LGBTQ are 3x more likely to face mental health conditions, while LGBTQ teens are 6x more prone to depression than their non-LGBTQ peers. Workplace discrimination persists, with about 1 in 5 LGBTQ individuals reporting negative comments or conduct from colleagues. Discrimination creates barriers. A recent study found a significant percentage LGBTQ youth were considering not going to college or delaying college due to mental health concerns – particularly trans and non-binary youth. Let's stand together for a healthier, more inclusive future in our schools, workplaces, and communities. #LGBTQHealthAwarenessWeek #BreakTheStigma #MentalHealthMatters

Across the LGBTQ community, girls and young women experience exacerbated mental health disparities. In the past 12 months, 81% of LGBTQ girls and young women reported wanting access to mental health care, but of those, only 44% report receiving it. In total, 66% of LGBTQ girls and young women reported receiving mental health care in the past, with 58% of those surveyed finding it helpful. This alarming statistic highlights the urgent need for inclusive and supportive environments in families, schools, and communities. Celebrate Pride Month: A Time for Love and Acceptance 🌈 In June, we celebrate Pride Month – a time to honor the LGBTQ community, love, and acceptance. I have personally participated in Stockholm Pride for many years, and I want to share with you some insights: 👯♀️Witnessing friends’ challenges: Through my close friends’ eyes, I have gained an understanding of the challenges that LGBTQ individuals face. Constantly having to come out and confront prejudices is a struggle that not everyone comprehends. 🌍Global limitations: Society’s views on sexuality vary across the world. Some places are more open and inclusive, while others are more restrictive. It’s important that we continue to work towards global acceptance. 👩⚕️Health and mental health: As a doctor, I have seen how mental health affects LGBTQ individuals. Studies show that they often suffer from anxiety, depression, and suicidal thoughts. We must create safe spaces for them that need to to seek help and work on more inclusive attitudes in society as a whole. Let’s work together to create a world where everyone can be proud of their identity and love. 🏳️🌈❤️ #PrideMonth #LoveIsLove #InclusionMatters
