Historian, diplomat,SUG VP NAU(2022/2023) session,Gender and social justice Advocate,Rotaractor, dedicated to community service and development.
Today, I had the privilege of speaking at Anambra Broadcasting Service about a topic that is incredibly close to my heart: "The Future; Youth in Governance." In a world facing rapid changes and unprecedented challenges, the role of young people in governance is more critical than ever. Our youth represent a wellspring of innovation, creativity, and resilience. They are not just future leaders but are leaders of today, poised to drive sustainable and inclusive development. At the event, we explored how engaging young people in governance can turn the demographic shift into a demographic dividend. We discussed the importance of policy reforms that facilitate youth participation, the need for educational and capacity-building programs, and the powerful role of technology and social media in amplifying youth voices. Despite the clear benefits, we must acknowledge the barriers that young people face, from systemic resistance to lack of resources and political instability. However, by creating supportive environments, fostering dialogue, and providing platforms for youth engagement, we can overcome these challenges. Success stories from around the world, such as Tunisia's youth quotas and Rwanda's youth parliament, highlight the transformative impact of youth involvement in governance. These examples inspire hope and demonstrate that when given the opportunity, young people can lead and innovate effectively. As I concluded my talk, I emphasized that the future of governance lies in embracing the energy, creativity, and commitment of our youth. By investing in their potential and integrating their perspectives into decision-making processes, we can build more resilient and inclusive societies.Let's work together to ensure that today's youth are equipped, empowered, and ready to shape a better tomorrow. I must not fail to thank my woman who made this possible , CHISOM UKOHA,I am really grateful for this opportunity. Thank you so much!! Researching - what supports leaders to thrive, in social impact organisations? | The 100,000 Rebel Leaders Project | The Dragonfly Collective | Rebel Rouser
We want to act with courage and love, towards social justice - and 2024 is a galvanising year for change... ** This message is coming from me as the ex-advisor of the Houses of Parliament - Racism in Aid inquiry and Dr Lata Narayanaswamy, Associate Professor in the Politics of Global Development at the University of Leeds, who gave evidence to the inquiry . ** Some months ago I posted a survey question on LinkedIn, on 'Has the IDC's inquiry into Racism in Aid made any difference in your organisation?' - the feedback was pretty grim. The grim results got both Lata and I thinking about what is true, and what is useful to discuss, with those giving energy towards such inquiries? Sooo.... ⭐We want to put some incredible people in the room together, with passions and purpose alignment, we may cultivate insights, and also create more energy for change! ⭐We are looking for those who were witnesses for philosophy of aid and racism in aid inquires. ⭐ We have contacted a lot of you already, but we don’t have everyone’s email addresses. We are looking to discuss: - What was the expectation of giving evidence? - Did the expectation move to reality - what would need to happen for expectations to move to reality? - How did the lessons of the report land with your organisations? - How has providing evidence strengthened or diminished trust with the IDC? - What, if anything, would you like to see an incoming government commit to in relation to tackling ‘Racism in Aid’? The event would take place in September **This is an independent event from the IDC** ⭐ If you have any questions – DM me #diversity #coaching #workshops #standinyourpower #wellbeing #antiracism #diversityequityinclusion #inclusion #leadership #empathy #leadershipskills #fcdo #makeaidbetter #equitymatters #equityandinclusion #diversityequityinclusion #antiracisminaid #intersectionality #innovation #localisation #theinnovation
