In the new issue of the ACS Bulletin, Dr. Dissanaike writes eloquently and passionately about why attending in-person surgical conferences, like the ACS Clinical Congress, is important: “The reason to attend a surgical meeting is for everything that exists around the periphery of the panels of experts… It is the discussion from the floor, the provocative questions, the personal anecdote that stirs something deeper within us, much more than a mountain of data ever could.” #ACSCC23

In a report carried out by Portuguese TV channel, RTP, as part of World Nurses' Day, the spotlight was also on a solution developed by Fraunhofer Portugal AICOS: a software-based solution designed to support clinical decision/action solutions for monitoring and treating wounds. This technology was developed in partnership with F3M and Universidade Católica Portuguesa - Centro Regional do Porto.   At minute 18'28, you can see images of the application created by our researchers. Full report at https://lnkd.in/dJuQkGJR.   The Clinical Wound Support solution was designed for two types of users:   - a mobile application for healthcare providers in the area of wounds, capable of capturing images of wounds, including differentiated clinical information about them, which makes it possible to increase the effectiveness of wound monitoring and improve the reliability of its characterisation, as well as supporting the selection of the appropriate therapeutic intervention;   - a web platform for health unit managers, responsible for integrating the data acquired in terms of wound evolution according to the therapy implemented, in order to identify the most promising options in terms of evaluation and management costs.   The research is now continuing in order to validate the solution created, within the Health for Portugal project (#HfPT): https://lnkd.in/d-pZKnyG.   #remarkabletechnology #impactinglives #woundsupport
