#BlackFriday Peak Season will be longer than ever, with purchases spread across the entire period from October to January 2025. However, increased competition is making it harder to capture attention while economic pressures are affecting Australians’ ability to spend. This is why It’s crucial to have the right strategies in place earlier for a successful Peak Season. Last week, News Xtend attended Google Live Stream event and uncovered some valuable consumer insights and strategies to make the most of this Peak Season. Here are our key takeaways: 1. Consumer confidence matters: Consumers who feel confident at purchase are 10 times more likely to be satisfied after buying and 18x more likely to recommend brands to family or friends. Make sure you have a clear understanding of your consumer journey and think about your shopper mindsets to drive more value to your business. 2. What are the 4 shoppers ‘D’s mindsets? These are the ways shoppers think about their purchases. Consider where your customers sit in the 4D mindsets and their journey with deliberate and determined being the most prominent in the current landscape: - Deliberate Shoppers: Making informed purchases. - Determined Shoppers: Move quickly to conversion. - Deal Seekers: Focus on buying on sale. - Devoted Shoppers: Loyal to brands they trust. 3. Extend sales beyond Cyber Week: Your deliberate mindsets (deal-seeking behaviours) are expected to be central this season, with shoppers hunting for the best prices. Make sure you provide the right information so consumers feel confident and informed throughout their purchase journeys. Also, surface messages early and stay top of mind for those determined consumers actively deciding where to purchase. 4. Offer quality across your digital store: Your digital store should reflect a well-organised physical store. Offer Google as much information as possible with clear labelling and comprehensive product information highlighting sales, promotions, and delivery options so consumers are engaged. Also, use unique discounts for new customers and loyalty members to retain high-value shoppers. 5. Use Impactful Annotations: - Deals and price annotations can attract deal-seeking shoppers. - Product ratings build consumer and brand trust. - Shipping annotations, including costs, speed, and return policies, reduce perceived purchase risks. The NRF predicts holiday spending to increase 3% to 4% this year; with online & non-store sales are expected to lead the increase. Well, the season is now in full swing with two weeks remaining. Retaildive.com shared their key takeaways from Black Friday weekend and it looks like things are off to a solid start. Traffic and sales increased 1% and 2% respectively. How great is it that brick and mortar is not dead! People are shopping in stores to experience product, not to mention the social aspect of shopping with family and friends. KPIs indicating the quality of the purchases are strong. Shoppers voted for Health and Beauty products, while sales of home products declined.
