My dear friends, as I wait for the rain in south Alabama to abate enough to permit dog walking, (my two dogs, although poodles by breed and ostensibly water loving canines, in actuality hate getting wet), allow me to furnish interested parties with an update on my post chemo infusion situation.
First as to lingering side effects.
The last chemo infusion occurred two months ago. Still lingering to plague me are the following:
neuropathy, in the form of occasional unsteadiness and weakness, lack of energy, usually in the morning;
inappetence, but at least the nausea and inability to even to contemplate food ingestion have lessened;
lower limb tumescence; and
skin flakiness.
As to procedures, you will recall that the pt scan revealed 99% cancer liberation, but a couple of troublesome spots remained.
To analyze those trouble spots a bronchoscopy (tissue extraction) was set up, but the presiding anesthesiologist wanted first an updated echocardiogram, then a statement from my cardiologist that I was, in the opinion of that professional, fit for anesthesia.
I have been informed by the office of the pulmonologist to be performing the bronchoscopy that such a statement has been provided to the anesthesiologist.
Its contents and reception have not been vouchsafed unto me, but I am scheduled for the procedure on August 1, then a visit with the oncologist on August 19 (this to give all the labs time to conduct and analyze the biopsy of the tissues resulting from the procedure).
Accordingly on/about August 19 I should know whether I am 100% cancer free, or whether the remaining spots will require radiation to help me attain that promised land!
I am most grateful for all your prayers and good wishes, and I trust this short recapitulation of my protocols, trials, and tribulations will be of assistance to anyone experiencing this disease and treatment in the future.
Cum meo maximo amore!
