Digitalisation is Key ➡ Yet another very good argument by #IFO & #FAZ for the necessity to continue the funding of the Initiative QI-Digital even beyond its official end in December 2024: The new #46thEconomistsPanel. https://lnkd.in/eF9f9npv 650 renowned economists were interviewed for this survey. Their answers named as one of the key reasons for the dimmed economic outlook in Germany - the insufficient #digitalisation of economy and administration. The core issue of the #InitiativeQIDigital is the digitalisation of the processes behind the #QualityInfrastructure. In other words, the digitalisation of #QualityAssurance, the key component of the success trademarks, #MadeInGermany and #MadeInEurope. It will be key for the #renewal of german and european economic success and prosperity, an #InnovationBooster of a special kind. Research and Innovation | Grant Management | Artificial Intelligence in Research Funding | Horizon Europe | Social Entrepreneurship | International Cooperation
🤖AI your new colleague ? This week, I had the opportunity to attend the European Association of Research Managers and Administrators (EARMA) Conference in Odense. Together with my colleagues Noa and Pål we delved into the use of AI in the field of Research Management. 💡It was particularly enriching to hear from our own Novo Nordisk Foundation colleagues, Thomas and Rasmus. Their contributions, alongside insights from other funding organizations such as the Wellcome Trust and the Volkswagen Foundation, painted a vivid picture of AI's potential. Engaging with Jorge and David from "La Caixa" foundation, we discussed some inspiring use cases of AI in operations. ❗ My key takeaways: - See AI like a new colleague who needs careful onboarding and guidance. - Always keep humans in the loop. - Be aware about potential risks like security and data integrity. 🤔 How are you integrating AI solutions to streamline and automate your operational processes? And yes, this post was written with a little help from my "new colleague". 😉 #EARMAConference2024 #AIinResearch #ResearchManagement #OperationalExcellence #HumanInTheLoop

Very glad to have had the opportunity to attend the Digital Conference for the Eastern Partnership organised by the EU4Digital Facility today. The Conference mainly focused on improving digital connectivity and the use of data & AI in the Eastern Partnership and provided a platform for representatives from Ukraine, Azerbaijan, Georgia, Moldova and Armenia to share their future priorities and current initiatives in the field of digital and connectivity. On the AI and data usage front some very valuable and transversal insights were shared by the Chief Data Officer for the Estonian government Ott Velsberg. I was quite inspired by the progress that Estonia has made on the use of AI for their digital public services as well as their efforts on open data. Key points that I found crucially important when considering applying AI to public services: 1. Focus on the human-centricity of both the AI solution and the public service itself. Use of technologies and digitalisation should be aimed at simplifying and streamlining our daily activities. 2. Try to reuse existing AI solutions and start small. If something works, then upscale the relevant solution, if it doesn’t – there might be a need to re-evaluate the necessity of the proposed solution. 3. Use of AI, similarly to other technical and digital solutions, should not be the main focus point of new initiatives. Rather than looking for problems for AI to solve, look for ways of improving processes with the help of AI and evaluate if AI is feasible and/or necessary to be used. Very much looking forward to further discuss Eastern Partnership current status and future goals on measuring their digital progress through the Digital Economy and Society Index during the EU4Digital event “EU4Digital DESI Accelerator regional event” that we will be hosting on November 24 #EU4Digital

AI for Good is thrilled to announce Dr. Bilel Jamoussi's appointment as the Deputy Director of International Telecommunication Union Telecommunication Standardization Bureau (TSB) - the very birthplace of AI for Good since its creation in 2017. His longstanding commitment to global ICT standards, emerging technologies and passion for bridging the standardization/technology/AI gaps will undoubtedly fuel our collective mission of using AI to advance the sustainable development goals. A special mention of Bilel's keen interest and support of the AI for Good machine learning challenges and our numerous AI-centric focus groups (pre-standardization efforts). On another note, while Dr. Reinhard Scholl might be retiring from ITU as the former Deputy Director of TSB, his dedication to AI for Good remains unwavering. We're honored that he will continue guiding us as the 'Programme Chair of AI for Good'. Furthermore, Fred Werner will now be leading AI for Good as its Chief of Strategy and Operations, while continuing in his Strategic Engagement role. With such a dynamic team in place, the future looks bright for the continued growth of #AIforGood! We'd also like to extend our heartfelt gratitude to our incredible team, partners, sponsors, experts and speakers. Your relentless efforts and dedication have been instrumental, and without you, AI for Good wouldn't be the global movement it is today. Lastly, we are pleased to share that the next AI for Good Global Summit is scheduled to take place in Geneva on the week 30-31 May. This summit will be held back-to-back with WSIS Process, symbolizing our intent to bring these two impactful communities together. This will further advance discussions on AI governance and amplify developing country participation. Preceding the summit, we're hosting expert-level machine learning workshops, curated for experts by experts. Here's to our shared goals and the exciting path ahead! ✨ #Standards #SDGs #AIforGood #AIforGoodSummit #WSIS #ITUaiSummit #ITU #UN
