The most impactful thing we civilians in the battle against #climatechange can do is to elected government officials that are committed to supporting policies that reduce carbon emissions. That is more impactful than buying EVs or changing out our light bulbs or investing in climate-friendly products and companies. The platforms, rhetoric and policy proposals of the Democratic and Republican parties stand in stark contrast to one another - a gap that grows by the day, as most recently evidenced by the promises Donald Trump has made to oil and gas executives in exchange for a mere $1 billion in campaign contributions (a great return on investment, he says). For years, Big Oil has said that they are committed to addressing climate change. They have also said that public policy is required to support their efforts. Well, now is the time for them to back that up. Oil and gas companies that are truly committed should publicly state that they will not support Trump because he has promised to roll back the very policies that the industry has said are necessary. And for the rest of us, you cannot be for action on climate and for the re-election of Donald Trump. It's that simple. https://lnkd.in/eZqp5gMv
