One of our favorite ways to support clients with their incentive programs is by seeking out local partners who can introduce attendees to the destination’s culture. When we were on-site at a recent event in The Bahamas, we had a quick moment to meet these beautiful dancers from the Junkanoo parade that would soon welcome attendees to a dinner. We learned from Bahamian historian and culture expert Arlene Nash-Ferguson that the festival now known as Junkanoo was started in The Bahamas hundreds of years ago by enslaved Africans. They used three days holiday at Christmas to celebrate African heroes like Gyan Kwaw (John Canoe), as well as to reaffirm their humanity, by recreating their festivals and rituals from home. Under cover of night, they stole away to reclaim their heritage, using traditional goatskin drums, and substituting cow bells for their bells and rattles of home. In the tradition of the motherland, they decorated themselves, using whatever was available in their new environment, including eventually, paper. This tradition has come down to us as Junkanoo, now the national cultural festival of The Bahamas. This history is something we were able to share with attendees so they could learn about the significance behind the parade. There are so many ways to include education—before, during and after your events. An easy way to get started is by researching the destination’s founding stories, symbols and customs as told by natives, and then share historical information about your event themes in pre-event messaging and materials. #eventprofs #eventleaders #events #event #eventdetails #meetingsandevents

🛠️ Implementation Maestro | Project Delivery Guru | 🌿🤖 Green Tech | AI Enthusiast | Joining Forces for a Sustainable Future 🌍 | #GreenTech #AI | Let's Make a Difference 💪
Excited to share insights from our recent Athennian CX Summit! 🚀 Last week, our Customer Experience team gathered in Florida, with some joining in-person and others virtually, from around 11 locations across North America. Here are some key takeaways: 🎯 Aligned Priorities: We had a task to pinpoint the most pressing challenge facing our department and propose solutions. Surprisingly, without any prior communication between different teams, we all independently identified the same challenge during our presentation time. This synchronized alignment allowed us to hit the ground running, and we immediately jumped into solutions. Had this been conducted virtually, the process could have stretched over a couple of months as we navigated the complexities of aligning the perspectives of more than 20 individuals. 👥 In-Person Collaboration: While I appreciate the conveniences that new technologies offer for virtual connections, nothing quite compares to the experience of building relationships in person. The summit provided an amazing opportunity to connect with colleagues face-to-face, meet new faces and engage in real, meaningful conversations. We showed how easy it is to fix a problem when multiple people jump to help, bringing diverse perspectives. But also, meeting someone in person allows you to connect on a personal level, not just as colleagues, but as friends too. 🤝 💼 Employee Experience (EX): Early this year for the first time I heard about the official correlation between CX & EX and how valuable it is. Understanding how the satisfaction and engagement of our employees directly influence the experiences of our customers has fundamentally shifted my perspective. It shows how important it is the prioritization of EX initiatives alongside CX efforts, recognizing that a positive employee experience lays the foundation for exceptional customer experiences. Big shout out to the organizing team: Carlos RamosKatie RobitailleAndrew de Jesus Malicia Basdeo 🙏 Remember, happy employees equal happy customers, and vice versa. Let's keep working together to create exceptional experiences for all! #CXSummit #TeamWork #EmployeeExperience #CustomerExperience

Events based on local wisdom are gatherings or activities that are organized in alignment with the values, beliefs, and traditions of a particular community or culture. These events celebrate and promote the unique heritage and knowledge that have been passed down through generations. By incorporating local wisdom into events, organizers aim to preserve and promote cultural identity, foster a sense of community, and showcase the rich traditions that define a particular way of life. Such events often involve traditional rituals, ceremonies, performances, crafts, and foods that are reflective of the local culture. In essence, events based on local wisdom serve as a means of honoring and preserving the cultural heritage and values that are deeply rooted in a specific community.

🌟 Nurturing Connections: The Essence of Sacred Hospitality in Latino Culture 🌟 In the vibrant tapestry of Latino culture, there exists a profound tradition that goes beyond mere hospitality - it's a sacred art form deeply rooted in our heritage: hospitalidad sagrada (sacred hospitality). This cherished practice isn't just about welcoming guests; it's about creating a haven, a safe and brave space where every visitor feels not just accommodated, but truly embraced. ✨ At the heart of sacred hospitality lies a commitment to nurturing connections and fostering a sense of belonging. It's about weaving a tapestry of warmth and kindness, where guests are not just received, but cherished as an integral part of the family. In Latino households, this tradition is passed down through generations, ingrained in the very fabric of our cultural identity. 🌟🌿 But what makes hospitalidad sagrada (sacred hospitality) in Latino culture truly special is its ability to create a sanctuary, a space where guests can be their authentic selves without fear or judgment. It's about celebrating diversity, honoring differences, and cultivating a sense of unity amidst the richness of our cultural mosaic. In a world often marked by uncertainty and division, sacred hospitality (hospitalidad sagrada) serves as a beacon of hope, reminding us of the power of human connection and compassion. 💫 Moreover, this tradition isn't confined to the walls of our homes; it extends to every interaction, every encounter, infusing our communities with a spirit of generosity and camaraderie. Whether it's sharing a meal, lending a listening ear, or offering a helping hand, sacred hospitality is a testament to the resilience and compassion of Latino culture. As we navigate the complexities of the modern world, let us hold fast to the timeless wisdom of sacred hospitality. Let us continue to create spaces where all are welcome, valued, and celebrated for who they are. Together, let us build a world where kindness reigns supreme, and where every guest - be it a friend, a stranger, or a kindred spirit - finds solace, support, and sanctuary. 🌍 #SacredHospitality #HospitalidadSagrada #LatinoCulture #Community #Inclusion #SafeSpace #BraveSpace #Unity #Compassion #CulturalHeritage #ConnectionBuilding

CEO Boomers Parks | Board Director Coney Park | Family Entertainment, Restaurant and Food & Beverage Turnaround Specialist
A 2019 IAAPA study shows North American families visit Family Entertainment Centers (FEC) 3.2 - 4.6 times per year on average. The study also indicates that guests spend between $12 - 22 per visit. As CEO of Boomers Parks, my goal is to create an environment that makes guests want to come back for more. How is this done? Adding exciting attractions, creating new and unique menu items, employing friendly, welcoming staff and more. The more guests visit, the higher the guest spends. How are you keeping guests coming back to your FEC? Let me know in the comments below!
