S4 Energy has signed a contract with Tesla for the delivery of 12 Megapacks. This marks a significant step for S4 Energy in the development of large-scale energy storage systems aimed at further stabilizing the Dutch electricity grid. Dominique Becker Hoff, CCO of S4 Energy, expressed delight at this milestone: "We have been working closely with Tesla Energy recently to bring this first project to realization. We're very pleased with the synergy our teams have realized and eagerly anticipate further collaboration in building our significant pipeline of upcoming energy storage projects.” The initial 12 Megapacks will be deployed in a hybrid energy storage installation, consisting of batteries and KINEXT flywheels. This installation intelligently combines the advantages of both storage media and will be used to provide services to the operator of the national high-voltage grid, TenneT, and to the regional grid operator, Stedin. The installation has a capacity of 11 megawatts (“MW”) and 44 megawatt-hours (“MWh”), meaning it can release electricity at its peak power for four hours. S4 Energy looks forward to continuing to build upon this initial Tesla Megapack order with future large-scale energy storage projects in the Netherlands and other European countries, developed and implemented in collaboration between S4 Energy and Tesla.
