It’s that time of year! Most people: “the holidays!” Fundraisers: “Year-end giving!” These weeks before the madness of Thanksgiving, Giving Tuesday, and all-of-the-things are some of the most critical for ensuring that your organization can end its calendar on a high note. Reviewing your donor data, ensuring your social media and website are up to date (with working links for giving!), and preparing your messaging and goals will support all of the elements that go into a healthy, successful, and very happy end-of-year giving campaign. So…how prepared are you? 🥰- we are ready to roll! | 😀- we have a bit of work to do, but almost there! | 😳 - still looking for our database login info | 😭 - wait, end of year giving?? We forgot!

I work with fundraising leaders to help quiet the chaos, define clear development strategies and achieve sustained revenue results. Classical music geek. 🎻🎶
Development Professionals are not sloths. We do however move very methodically and strategically I’m order to achieve long-term success. Some more thoughts on this below.
Successful Development Professionals are methodical and strategic. We don’t rush (except when we’re under a deadline for a gala or something), instead taking a slow and steady approach to our work. When Development Professionals rush, mistakes happen and donations are lost! We’re planners. We think ahead, sometimes waaaay ahead. At one org I worked at, I had the date set and booked for our annual golf tournament 3 years in advance!! And I drove the president crazy when I insisted we start looking for our next honorees, the day after our last dinner (actually 2 days because I always took time to recharge the day after our major gala). So, when people complain that we move like sloths, it’s not because we don’t know what we’re doing; it’s because we know precisely what we’re doing and working through it the way it needs to be done to be as effective as we know it will be!

Introducing the Appeal Tracker! The Appeal Tracker will help fundraisers: ✔️track their appeal progress in real time by comparing it against a past appeal. ✔️know how their current appeal is trending at a glance, ✔️and visualize the comparison with a simple line or bar graph. Just pick any two appeals the metric you want to compare them on, and compare them in seconds. And if an appeal isn't on track, you can do something about it before it's too late. With EOY giving season in full swing, we're hoping this will make your December a little less stressful. Happy Fundraising, friends. ✌️

Our sector is, once again, awaiting the results of Giving Tuesday without much thought about what value WE are giving to our supporters— and that’s really too bad. “Why,” you might ask? The answer: Because immutable laws apply when money is involved. One such law: In most cases, money only changes hands when someone who cares about your mission gains something of equal or greater value in return for their gifts. Another: The more you give to your supporters, the more they will give to support your mission (proportionate to their capacity, of course). Thus, the results of your Giving Tuesday efforts (and your entire year’s fundraising efforts) will directly reflect the amount of value YOU have already provided to your supporters. If you gave little, you will get little. So, this week, if you are unhappy with your fundraising results, first consider what value you gave your supporters all year long. Only then will you be able to properly correlate Giving Tuesday outcomes with your actions throughout the past year.

This is your moment! ⌛More money for mission closes in 3..2..1 Registration for Values-Based Major Giving Academy is about to close! https://lnkd.in/ghbXAu8H You comin’? A “YES” to Values-Based Major Giving Academy could mean THIS, in just a handful of weeks.👇 ✔ Logging off work at a reasonable hour (or early!) because you see the path to individual donors covering a chunk of your annual budget and some of next year’s 🤯 ✔ A wide-open calendar. Not a single burn-out-inducing tabling “opportunity”, golf tournament, or gala in sight 🥰 ✔ A database full of thoughtful responses from donors. They want to learn more about equity. They had no idea who you were before the course. (Making your power for changing the status quo pretty limitless 🌎💕) ✔ Afternoon walks. Long weekends with your besties. A relaxed, confident vibe on your fundraising team. Feeling proud about the money you are moving and HOW you’re doing it. (See this note from values-based fundraising client Tory, that, honestly, is what it’s all about. 👇We can do this, together ya’ll. “...Sarah and Laura are true experts at crafting practical, real-world strategies for nonprofits like ours who are seeking to cultivate a joyful community of advocates…” -Tory) Today’s yes to Values-Based Major Giving can lead to many more yeses.
