Today marks the end of my Software Development internship at Trane Technologies. During my time here, I grew not only as a professional and as an engineer, but also as a person. Seeing the individual goals that my coworkers had for themselves as well as the values that Trane Technologies held as a company helped me to see the potential value, purpose, and impact that my work can hold. My standards for any future employers are definitely raised in that regard.
As was aforementioned, I gained a lot of key skills throughout my project. Tasked with heading an investigation into a new software, I learned a lot about both project ownership and project management as well as the importance of documentation, public speaking/presenting, and good professional practice to ensure sustainable, collective intellectual property. Additionally, while creating the implementation for that software, I improved upon various technical skills such as penetration testing, ZAP, scripting, Python, Robot Framework, and more.
Thank you specifically to my manager, Tim Castagna, and Grace Bailey for providing support and guidance to the other interns and me, to Glenn Gasmen for inviting us into the Embedded Software and Security team to provide vision into how Trane Technologies is moving forward as a company, and to my project team (Mangaya Sivagnanam, Jerry Vanyo, Pooja Bridget Gururaj) for entertaining my questions, teaching me what you know, learning alongside me, and being a friend.
Furthermore, I also want to thank everyone who led a Product/Team Overview. Those meetings add much value to the internship program, because it allows everyone involved to gain a better understanding of how everything connects within Trane Technologies whether it be connections/chains between products or interactions/roles between teams. The time you all donated to our learning is much appreciated.
While this is the end of my internship, this is not the end of my time at Trane Technologies. I am excited to announce that I will be rejoining the team as a part-time student employee during spring semester and, once again, as a Software Development intern during the summer of 2024. All the relationships and connections I have built so far are extremely valuable to me, and I look forward to continuing to foster those upon my return.
