In partnership with our new sponsor ALine Inc, we are thrilled to announce that Professor Jiashu Sun from the National Center for Nanoscience and Technology, China, has won the 2024 Lab on a Chip & ALine Inc Pioneers of Miniaturization Lectureship! The Sun lab leverages interdisciplinary tools, including microfluidics, functional DNA materials, and machine learning, to develop low-cost, point-of-care, ultrasensitive assays for liquid biopsy. You can find out more about our winner and their research here: https://lnkd.in/eg4sjFFA Thanks to this recent achievement, Jiashu is set to present at microTAS 2024 at 09:15 - 09:35 ET Tuesday, 15 October on the topic of microfluidics for separation and molecular profiling of extracellular vesicles. Be sure not to miss her talk! We recently sat down with one of the ALine Inc team who will be at microTAS (Stefano Begolo, PhD, EMBA, PMP) as our new Lectureship sponsor. You can find this interview and find out more about ALine's mission here: https://lnkd.in/epwpbpvZ ALine is also proud to sponsor the Women's Evening again this year! You can find both the Royal Society of Chemistry (Booth 61) and ALine Inc (Booth 17) teams at MicroTAS in Montréal in a few weeks' time. We are looking forward to meeting you all!

The Royal Society of Chemistry is truly delighted to announce the appointment of Professor Melanie Bailey from the University of Surrey as the new Editor-in-Chief of Analyst! Professor Bailey is Director of the University of Surrey’s Wolfson Centre of Excellence for Analytical Science as well as the BBSRC SEISMIC facility for single cell “omics”. She has contributed to the development of ion beam and mass spectrometry analytical techniques in a multidisciplinary career at the interface of physics, chemistry and biology. Her publications span multiple techniques including elemental mapping and depth profiling, rapid #massspectrometry, #singlecell mass spectrometry and #imaging, and multiple applications in biology, medicine, geoscience, forensics, physics, chemistry and cultural heritage. “I am deeply honoured to have the opportunity to lead the future direction of Analyst, the RSC’s longest running journal. Analyst is a high-quality, peer review journal with a long track record and an excellent reputation. Analytical science is exciting because of the potential to have impact in so many different fields, and this is what I hope we can showcase in future editions of the journal. I will work with the Editorial Board to make sure that we are capturing the highest quality and most exciting advances in our community, to continue to raise awareness of the journal and to ensure that our journal is as inclusive as possible.” We would like to take this opportunity to sincerely thank our previous Editor-in-Chief, Professor Norman Dovichi University of Notre Dame, for his valued service to the journal and community.
