CLIMATE IS SEXY - NOT ALL GREEN IS HOT! Drum roll. And (all) the money goes to ….. climate and circular innovation. The top tuned agenda of climate innovation can sometimes turn entrepreneurship into a beauty contest. This is especially true in fundraising and crowding the climate innovation space. Don’t get me wrong – climate innovation is absolutely essential. But let's not forget the broader picture. We do not only need climate innovations. Currently, most funding is flowing into climate innovation and businesses developing climate solutions. While this is crucial, we must consider how we also support non-climate innovation entrepreneurs and existing businesses in greening their operations. Think of all the incredible processing businesses and other enterprises that, while not inherently green, have immense potential to adopt sustainable practices. These businesses might not be as glamorous, but they play a crucial role in implementing the green solutions that the innovators are developing. They too are entrepreneurs and many are innovators in their fields. These businesses need support to become more sustainable. They might not be "sexy," but they're the backbone of our economy and the ideal candidates to deploy green innovations at scale. By helping them, we create a market for green technologies, moving from novelty to norm. Greenhouse and climate action isn’t just for the inventors of new solutions but also for those who apply and deploy them. We must assist all entrepreneurs in making their businesses climate-friendly and sustainable, not just those who look great on social media. Today, we often celebrate the inventors of green tech as heroes, but what about those who adopt and champion these technologies, bring them to scale? The truth is, more businesses need greening than there are green innovators. These innovators need customers to create market momentum. Who better to lead this charge than young businesses with fresh ideas and values? Is the funding for "sexy," or are we funding impact? What are you seeing? Is there a need for a call to action for supporting both green innovations and the greening of all businesses? It's not an either/or situation but a collaborative effort for a better future, where solutions and their deployment go hand in hand. #ClimateInnovation #Sustainability #Entrepreneurship #GreenBusiness #ImpactOverAppearance #FutureForward #ClimateAction #CircularEconomy #GreenAfrica #EcoEntrepreneurship #EnvironmentalSustainability

CHARTING A SUSTAINABLE FUTURE Our Managing Director, Patricia Jumi, had the privilege of participating as a panelist in the recent "Pollinate Potluck" event, part of the Pollinate Impact series. This platform serves as a dynamic hub bringing together incubators, accelerators, and Entrepreneur Support Organisations (ESOs) from across the Global South to engage in discussions about sustainable strategies. In the company of esteemed co-panelists Esther Ndeti of Uncap and Wilfred Njagi of Villgro , the discussion was expertly moderated by Joshua Murima from Briter. Together, they delved into the critical topic of #funding and #financial sustainability for support organisations. The central question that resonated was whether these organisations can achieve commercial sustainability. It's a common concern for all leaders in the ecosystem. Securing sustainable funding sources is a top priority. Insights from this discussion were eye-opening. The panelists shared distinctive revenue models that have guided their sustainability journeys. For those leading support organisations, ensuring long-term sustainability is a perpetual challenge. Funders inquire about post-support sustainability plans, a question that lacks a one-size-fits-all answer. However, the discussion highlighted promising #strategies. From innovative concepts like "acceleration as a service" and revenue-based financing to approaches like tailored services for entrepreneurs and creative acceleration fee structures, these forward-thinking methods are actively shaping the landscape of financial sustainability. This panel discussion underscored the immense power of collaboration and knowledge sharing in our collective mission to bolster sustainable entrepreneurship across the Global South. Together, we are paving the way for a brighter future. #GrowthAfrica #Entrepreneurship #Innovation #Sustainability #GlobalSouthEntrepreneurship #Collaboration

Every year, they help fund start-ups that are on a mission to make the healthcare sector more efficient and sustainable with their eco-Disruptive scheme. This year’s list includes 18 inspirational start-ups from around the world. I highly recommend looking into some them yourself because the enthusiasm from these ventures is contagious, and gives me hope for a more sustainable world. Let’s support these new businesses and build a better world together. #TheInquistiveMarketeer #Sustainability #Innovation #EnvironmentalImpact #GreenFuture #ClimateAction
