Adding to the body of research in the field of pediatric neuro-oncology in Africa is goal and a responsibility for my team and I. This study was about craniopharyngioma in Uganda; presentation, management, complications and outcome. Despite being a benign tumor, due to its location, commonly in the parasellar or suprasellar area, near the pituitary and hypothalamus, surgery is often times difficult. These patients suffer from severe endocrine deficits in addition and may end up with panhypopituitarism. Preparing for colorectal cancer surgery ten Cate et al. provide real-world evidence from prehabilitation in colorectal surgery. After 3-4 weeks of multimodal prehabilitation, the study demonstrates enhanced physical fitness with particular improvement of aerobic capacity. Improvements were observed regardless of baseline values, though the least fit patients benefitted most. 🔍 Recent Study Highlights Advances in Pancreatic Cancer Surgery Journal: Annals of Surgery Study Focus: Examines postoperative outcomes for patients with locally advanced (LAPC) and borderline resectable pancreatic cancer (B)RPC. Key Insights: Total of 879 patients studied, with 12% LAPC and 88% B(RPC). Post-surgery complications and survival rates are comparable between LAPC and B(RPC). Findings support the viability of surgical intervention in LAPC cases.
