Lithium-ion batteries are set to lose their leading market position in energy storage to newer technologies, some of which are already outcompeting them on price, according to a new BloombergNEF report written by Yiyi Zhou and Evelina Stoikou. Julia Souder, CEO of the Long Duration Energy Storage Council (LDES Council), tells Recharge the findings reflect "what we are seeing across the LDES ecosystem." John O'Donnell, CEO of California start-up Rondo Energy, which has developed a system to store energy in superhot bricks, says that thermal batteries using cheap materials are best placed to store excess green power at the scale and price necessary for the energy transition. #energystorage #batteries #cleantech #renewables #wind #solar https://lnkd.in/dPdDWA-6

I’m more intrigued by the idea of ‘compressed air’ batteries. I had never heard of this tech before! Thanks for the write up!
