While the history of Juneteenth is deep in the United States, it is still new as a federal holiday. As this article points out, "the work of DEI never stops. But the more we recognize holidays like Juneteenth as unifying opportunities, the further we can travel on this necessary journey." Juneteenth provides an opportunity for organizations to examine their diversity, equity, and inclusion practices and expand the conversation around how to create a more inclusive culture that elevates and honors the experiences, perspectives, and contributions of Black Americans. This Wednesday, we wish you a meaningful Juneteenth. https://lnkd.in/dqF8_pg #juneteenth #dei #diversity #equity #inclusion

February is Black History Month, a time to celebrate the achievements and contributions of African Americans to the history and culture of the United States. As non-Black people, it is our responsibility to reflect on the ongoing struggle for racial justice and equality that Black people have faced and continue to face in this country. Let us take the time to educate ourselves about the rich and diverse Black history, amplify the voices and stories of Black people, and support the causes and organizations that fight for empowerment and advancement. Honoring the legacy of those who fought for justice, equality, and freedom is not just about the past, but also about shaping the future. Let's work towards a more equitable and just society. #BlackHistoryMonth #RacialJustice #Equality #Empowerment #Education #Celebration #Diversitymatters

This #blackhistorymonth, I would like to highlight Dame Linda Dobbs, a true champion of diversity and equality. Dame Linda's groundbreaking achievements in the legal field, including her historic appointment as the first non-white High Court Judge in the UK, underscore her unwavering commitment to justice, equity, and inclusion. In today's world, diversity isn't just a buzzword; it's a moral and strategic imperative. Dame Linda's work exemplifies why it's crucial - it's about recognising the strength in our differences and ensuring that everyone, regardless of their background, has a seat at the table. Black History Month serves as a poignant reminder of the rich and diverse contributions of the Black community throughout history. As we celebrate Dame Linda's legacy, let's also reflect on the broader importance of diversity and inclusion in our global society. It's not just a matter of fairness; it's a catalyst for innovation, growth, and social progress. It's about fostering a more inclusive, tolerant, and harmonious world for all. We should commit to advancing these values in our own spheres and be part of the change so we can create a world where diversity is not just celebrated during special months but is integrated into our everyday lives. #BlackHistoryMonth #Diversity #Equity #Inclusion #Justice

This Black History Month, let's focus on learning the specific terminology that defines the Black experience. Terminology such as: 1️⃣ Intersectionality 2️⃣ Code-switching 3️⃣ Colorism 4️⃣ Professionalism 5️⃣ How blackness is viewed differently around the world 👉🏾 It is crucial to learn about the history and experiences of black people with intersecting identities such as queer black inventors, black individuals with disabilities who contributed to accessibility standards, and black women who challenged the status quo. 👉🏾 Additionally, it is important to acknowledge that the black experience varies for individuals living in different parts of the world, where black people may be a majority, leading to distinct lived experiences. This Black History Month and every day after, how will you learn about the black experience from an intersectional perspective and the historical context behind it? #blackhistory @#blackhistorymonth #amplifyblackvoices #blackintersectionality #blackpower #blackhistoryeveryday
