The research areas of the Smart Vehicle Systems group at Technische Universität Ilmenau cover a broader landscape of mobility, including drones and unmanned aerial vehicles, off-road vehicles and others. In this context, in collaboration with Université de Technologie de Compiègne (UTC) and The University of Tokyo, we are now also working on the technologies for drone-based identification of road parameters. This video was captured by #OdysightAI’s multi-camera system during an actual flight. It was taken on board a UAV by one of the multiple sensors supported by our technology, which monitors the landing gear of a UAV for anomalies. Here's an interesting comparison between multirotors and aircraft regarding vortex phenomena: - In Aeroplanes, Wingtip Vortices occur due to high-pressure air from below the wing moving to the low-pressure area above the wingtip. This creates a swirling motion, leading to induced drag and wake turbulence. - In Drones, Rotor Vortices are generated at the tips of the rotor blades. These vortices result from the pressure difference between the upper and lower surfaces of the blades, potentially decreasing lift and causing stability concerns. Understanding these vortex dynamics is crucial for optimizing the performance and safety of both multirotor drones and traditional aircraft. #AircraftTechnology #DroneInnovation 🚁✈️

There is a lot of talk about how to integrate #drones into the #airspace. This is the wrong approach. It is the traditional airspace ecosystem that must move to make room for drones. So the airspace needs to be changed for drones. This is because they are clearly the next stage in the development of air transport.
