This evening, Riverside Community Hospital hosted a special "Diet Coke" send off to Annette Greenwood, CNO, as she embarks on her promotion to Division Chief Nursing Executive at HCA's Far West Division. In gratitude of her nursing leadership at RCH and the countless ways she has impacted our patients, colleagues and community, we presented Annette with a DAISY Lifetime Achievement Award. Annette's contributions to our hospital will continue to grow as we are one of the seven lucky hospitals she will now oversee in her new role. So, while we are sad to see her move on, we are excited for her new journey and happy she will still be a part of our Riverside family.
Thank you, Annette, for your dedication to our Mission and patients. Congratulations!

Coalition director, Isaac Longobardi, joined Nathan Jones and other panelist at LTC 100 last week! There, Isaac shared insights about our very promising action plan, "Addressing Residents' Goals, Preferences & Priorities (or GPPs)".
In case GPPs are new to you - GPPs are important tool in measuring care of nursing home residents as they reflect how residents want to live and be cared for. After all, we believe residents should be empowered to direct their care.
Many nursing homes are working to improve the way they gather resident's GPPs, develop unique care plans, and implement those plans. However, in some nursing homes how GPPs are collected varies, as does the consistency of collection and implementation. Furthermore, public reporting does not provide whether care is consistent with residents' goals.
However, what we know... is when GPPs are data-supported (and there's a tech-enabled process for collecting them), it is possible to incorporate and measure quality care that reflects residents' needs and wishes. It also supports standardizing processes across care settings.

At LTC 100 last week, the Monday afternoon schedule was full of sessions centered around the issues with the current image of long term care with the public.
One of the panels before my presentation consisted of Isaac Longobardi, Dan Schlacter, and Caitlin Gillooley and moderated by JJ Rabinowich. This group did a phenomenal job of sharing how the public views nursing homes.
Dan shared a stat that was eye-opening… 46% of people have a negative view of nursing homes with only 27% having a positive view.
At the end of last year, Tim Craig and Cathy Ronca reached out and asked if I could follow up this panel discussion to share how we have seen nursing homes do their part in reshaping the image of long term care in a more positive direction:
Thankfully, we have some incredible nursing homes with Prestige Care, A.G. Rhodes, and South Cove Manor at Quincy Point Rehabilitation and Nursing Center and I was able to show how each of these organizations were using resident, family, and staff stories to reshape the image of nursing homes and build trust with the public.
Huge thank you to everyone at LTC 100 and the Lincoln Healthcare Leadership team for allow myself and Dash Media to be a part of the great event.

🌟 Let's Pop Our Nursing Bubble and Reach Out to Others! 🌟
As Judith Shamian puts it, let's break free from our nursing bubble and embrace the power of mixing art and science to build effective strategies. Nursing is not just about the technicalities; it's about reaching out, connecting, and making a difference beyond our immediate sphere.
Florence Nightingale's words resonate deeply:
"Unless we are making progress in our nursing every year, every month, every week, take my word for it, we are going back."
Progress isn't just a concept—it's a necessity. It's about constantly evolving, learning, and pushing boundaries.
So, dear colleagues, let's reflect on our roles, embrace change, and strive for excellence. Together, we can shape a brighter future for nursing and healthcare.
