🍀Morning Green News 💡 How about "From Becquerel to Beyond: The Journey of Photovoltaics"? 🌞🚀🏡🥇🛰️🌍 🌞 Did you know that the history of photovoltaics goes back almost 200 years? The photovoltaic effect was discovered by Alexandre Edmond Becquerel in 1839 and since then, we've come a long way! 🚀 The first solar cell was constructed by Charles Fritts in the early 1880s. Although it had low efficiency and was expensive, Fritts installed solar panels on a house in New York in 1884, ahead of his time. 🏡 Albert Einstein, the brilliant physicist, also played a significant role in the development of photovoltaics. In 1905, he described the principle of the photovoltaic effect, which earned him a Nobel Prize. 🥇 Silicon photovoltaic panels, as we know them today, were introduced in 1954 by Bell Labs. The use of solar energy in space exploration became crucial, and the launch of the Vanguard 1 satellite in 1958 with solar power cells was a major milestone. 🛰️ Thanks to advancements in space programs, photovoltaics accelerated in development, became more affordable, and widely used in the civilian sector. In the Czech Republic, the first photovoltaic power plant was installed in Dukovany in 1998. 🌍 Today, photovoltaics is accessible to the general public and its popularity is growing, thanks to its environmental friendliness and contribution to achieving carbon neutrality. Well done! If exceeding Expected Energy Production target, it is not that subject to deep questioning. However, when the Expected Production target is not met, having the mean to articulate the causes and compute what is called "losses", then it matters a lot as to solve any related issue by putting in place due remedy. What is reported as "losses" is only an estimate, expected to be well thought then computed, bringing as much "truth" as possible, near to facts, being an instrument of a practice based on a convention.

Finally, out in @CellRepPhysSci, we show that a photo-electrochemical device can reversibly operate to produce solar fuel in photo-driven electrolysis mode and power in fuel cell mode under high solar concentration.
