To attain a completely decarbonized energy system, renewable energy plays a pivotal role. Nevertheless, to unleash the full potential of clean energy sources, a greater degree of electrification in the economy is essential. The IEA report titled "Electricity Grids and Secure Energy Transition" emphasizes the necessity for increased investment in the power grid. According to the IEA, the annual investment in grid infrastructure, which has largely remained static, must double to exceed USD 600 billion per year by 2030. #electricity #renewables

Energy self-consumption refers to the practice of generating renewable energy and utilising it directly within the premises where it is produced. This concept has gained significant relevance in 2023, as the world continues to grapple with the challenges of climate change and the need to transition to sustainable energy sources. It allows individuals, households, and businesses to reduce their reliance on traditional energy grids. In the future, energy self-consumption is expected to witness significant growth and advancements. The increasing affordability and efficiency of renewable energy technologies, such as solar panels and wind turbines, will make it more accessible for individuals and organisations to generate their own electricity. This will lead to a decentralised energy system, where energy production is distributed across a wide network of self-sufficient units. With the help of energy storage systems, such as batteries, excess energy can be stored for later use, ensuring a continuous and reliable supply. #energystorage #solar #energy #batteries #renewableenergy #renewables PES Solar SMA America Marc Nerius Megan Desideri Trish Moratto Brandon Davis

The key to industry's #sustainable future? #GreenEnergy. Whether it be wind, solar or water, green sources of energy are set to dominate the energy sector. Maya Derrick of Energy Digital Magazine interviews some energy experts, including Arturo Di Filippi, about the numerous green energy solutions that are driving positive change. "Worldwide, renewable power capacity is expected to grow by 2,400 gigawatts (GW) between 2022 and 2027, according to the International Energy Agency (IEA). This figure from 2022 – 30% higher than what was estimated a year prior, the IEA says – is equal to the entire power capacity of China. The report also suggests that renewables are set to account for more than 90% of global electricity expansion over the next five years, overtaking coal to become the largest source of global electricity by early 2025. 👉 Read the article here https://lnkd.in/dty_bSbm page 54 #UPSsystems Vertiv #datacenter

This recent piece from the International Energy Agency (IEA) provides an insight into the infrastructure challenges accompanying the transition to #NetZero. Assuming that much of the heavy lifting in the transition will be delivered by a move to electricity generated from renewable sources, they estimate that the transmission capacity to support such a move will require the installation/refurb of over 80 million Km of electrical grid by 2040! The scale of the challenge is significant - so are the opportunities. #GreenEnergy #Renewables https://lnkd.in/e73iYmPJ

An interesting article from PVMagazine on the policy around energy transition and energy security. The quote below on supply chain resilience is important as we look at policies like the IRA and its drive to increase domestic content and manufacturing for these critical technologies. "Energy security in renewables-based systems A new report from the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA) examines the global energy system’s transformation and its implications for energy security. It tells policymakers that energy security in renewables-based systems will require multi-dimensional thinking. IRENA’s multi-dimensional approach to energy security encompasses technologies, value chains, and societies. It examines demand-response, flexibility, ecosystems, and human security as preconditions for robust energy systems. The agency predicts that technology, rather than fuel, will play a dominant role in renewables-dominated systems. It says this is why supply chain resilience must be enhanced.” See https://conta.cc/3Kg8pfi #solar #energy #solarenergy #renewables #renewableenergy #electricity #energystorage #ESS #distributedenergy #solarpower #batteries #EVCharging #EV
