Summary 2023 (pt. 2) - I realised writing through my first summary that there are a few more points to share. So, here goes: Portability & Dev Tools At Hybrid Greentech - Energy Storage Intelligence , we work within critical infrastructure so availability of services is key. One of the benefits of #rustlang is the lack of a runtime (no JVM) and the ability to build libraries and packages across different architectures (read: #arm and #x86) out of the box. This is partially thanks to the fantastic dev tooling that Rust has with Cargo. This means that the ability to target multiple architectures without a lot of additional work is fantastic to have a very flexible delivery of software. (well, not on actual builds, rust is slow there without optimisations) Where we get to go is building business logic in a way that it can Target a wide variety of systems, executed with some guarantee of safety and performance (think as: IoT, Edge servers and devices, Server backends and perhaps even #wasm).
