Flexible wave energy converters have the potential to be highly survivable, with lightweight construction and fewer, simpler components. Future Glimpse: Wave Energy Converters emerge as the next visual disruptors in our beautiful landscapes, echoing the contentious visual legacy of wind turbines.   How do you feel about this future? Would you like to see this future happen?   Future Signal Researchers have developed an improved "blue energy" harvesting device that can more effectively capture the energy from ocean waves. The device, called a liquid–solid triboelectric nanogenerator (TENG), converts mechanical energy from water sloshing back and forth into electricity. By repositioning the electrode from the center of the tube to the end where the water crashes with the most force, the researchers were able to dramatically increase the amount of wave energy that could be harvested. In one experiment, the optimized TENG was able to power an array of 35 LEDs as water entered and exited the section of the tube covered by the electrode. 🚀 Elewit and Hybrid Energy Storage Solutions Ltd. have demonstrated the feasibility and effectiveness of hybrid storage with grid-forming control through the INERTIA project. Ocean wave energy is a vast and underutilized energy source. Due to the low frequency of ocean waves, vibration-based energy harvesting from this energy source has received less attention. In 2017, we embarked on a project to explore this potential. Initially, we focused on understanding the energy source. Subsequently, we designed an innovative beam-column piezoelectric-based energy harvesting system optimized for real-world ocean waves. Our simulations showed that the system successfully harvested enough energy to power the electrical devices in offshore buoys. It was a pleasure reconnecting with the wind energy community. The presentations on various aspects of wind turbine control were highly insightful. In my talk, I focused on workflows for advanced wind turbine control, discussing the standard V-Cycle, its integration with W-Cycle for AI model incorporation, and multidomain multidisciplinary workflow. We are pleased to announce the successful publication of our latest research paper "PSO-based optimal placement of electric vehicle charging stations in a distribution network in smart grid environment incorporating backward forward sweep method". This study presents a novel approach for the optimal placement of electric vehicle (EV) charging stations within a distribution network, leveraging Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO) combined with the Backward Forward Sweep method. Our findings offer valuable insights for enhancing the efficiency and reliability of smart grid environments. Key highlights of the study involves integration of PSO for optimal station placement, use of Backward Forward Sweep method for load flow analysis and Improved network performance and reduced power losses. We believe this publication will significantly contribute to the ongoing advancements in smart grid technologies and sustainable transportation solutions. Fault ride-through (FRT) operation is an important capability of wind turbine, which must maintain uninterrupted operation in presence of grid faults and inject reactive power into power grid to support voltage restoration. The benefits of finite control set model predictive control (FCS-MPC) to improve operation performance of high-power wind power converter during grid faults and comply with next-generation grid code requirements in terms of reactive current provision are investigated in my research.
