↔️ Latest research highlights a growing disconnect between businesses’ and employees’ wellbeing priorities, with employers failing to meaningfully deliver on their commitments at risk of ‘wellbeing washing’. 📈 And this risk is increasing, with just 55% of employers stating they offer ‘good work’ across job autonomy, satisfaction and work-life balance, and 68% agreeing too much responsibility currently falls to employees to champion their health and wellbeing, rather than businesses prioritising a workplace environment and culture that authentically supports their people. 💡 In People Management magazine's latest article, Rippl’s CEO Christopher Brown highlights the importance of holistic approaches that focus on both employee uptake and ongoing engagement: 💭“Simply tracking sign-ups doesn’t tell the whole story. Employees may opt-in but then never engage with the programmes on offer. If HR teams only focus on sign-ups, they may never understand whether the benefit is truly valued. Often there is little consideration over whether the offering is right for their employees. Programmes that only focus on physical health, for example, are too narrow and miss the opportunity to support employee wellbeing holistically, including physical, mental, financial and social.” ☕ Read the full story: https://lnkd.in/eZsHiqcJ #WellbeingStrategy #WellbeingWashing #PeopleStrategy #EmployeeExperience #WorkplaceCulture #GetMore

According to a State of Work-Life Wellness 2024 report by Gympass, 93% of workers consider their wellbeing to be equally critical as their salary, up by 10 points year-over-year. 87% of employees would consider resigning from an organization that does not emphasize the wellbeing of its workers. Employees have a lot of stressors to contend with, whether they're related to work or the outside world. This is why wellbeing has emerged as such a priority - the clear line between work and personal lives has become all too blurry. This is something we as #HR Professionals need to bear in mind as we look at programs and benefits for our employees. Do you have recommendations on resources for this? I support organisations that are looking to review their current health and wellbeing strategies, by providing knowledge and support on how Westfield Health's solutions can help to strengthen your proposition.
Most businesses now offer some wellbeing support, with workers increasingly expecting their employer to provide initiatives that look after their health. Despite this, some workplaces still see it as a tick box leading to the rise of the term ‘wellbeing washing’ — where businesses appear to care about employee wellbeing without delivering adequate support. It’s no surprise that the impact of wellbeing washing can be detrimental to businesses as it can leave employees feeling undervalued — with their needs unmet, a lack of trust in leadership and a poor workplace culture. 38% of companies are prioritising employee wellbeing over the next 5 years. While this may seem surprising to some, considering factors like inflation, recession fears and workforce erosion, Aon’s 2022-2023 Global Wellbeing Survey found that employee wellbeing is at the top of organisations' priority list. With the cost of living crisis in full-swing, as well as a major shift in perceptions surrounding the workplace and employee benefits, investing in the wellbeing of employees is increasing in popularity. In my opinion, the pandemic played a big role in this shift. The fact that more and more companies are moving towards a hybrid working model is just one example that indicates we are entering a different era in the workplace. But when it comes to 'employee wellbeing' - what does it truly mean and what will it look like in the next 5 years? I like to take a holistic approach to wellbeing; One that encompasses the physical, mental, and financial health of employees. What's interesting is that all these factors actually influence and compound one another. This is particularly true when it comes to financial and mental health. According to research by Money and Mental Health, 50% of people in debt experience mental health issues. Similarly, 40% of people with poor mental health say their financial situation worsens it. Understanding that workplace wellbeing is not one-dimensional, and that there are many moving parts, is vital. As more companies start prioritising employee wellbeing, I expect to see a greater emphasis on developing comprehensive strategies that encompass all aspects of an individual's 'health'. At Maji, we understand the impact that financial health can have on improving an individual's overall wellbeing, which is why we are dedicated to helping employers provide their teams with the financial support they need.
