As the year winds down, I’d like to share my thoughts on work-life balance: - nobody ever died wishing they spent more time working. you make a lifelong comitement to your family; not your company - find your niche and master your craft. Make it your superpower. It’s the best way to make yourself indispensable. Once you’ve achieved that, everything else becomes a lot easier. If you try to be the same as everyone else, you will be viewed the same way as everybody else. - the laws of supply and demand apply to your employment. If you feel overworked, that means you are in high demand. That’s leverage. Use it. - never stop looking for the next opportunity. You never know what is around the corner and employment offers are a great way to renegotiate your role, salary and benefits. You might also find something that better suits your superpowers. That makes everything easier. - shut off from work. Relax. Enjoy those precious moments with your family. It pays dividends when you spend time with your family - and when you return to work Happy holidays! #worklifebalance

This hit home for me. Going through this process of finding new opportunities after leaving a company that provided a great start to my adulthood was hard. Reflection is key though and throughout my interview process with potential employers, the very first thing I have been mentioning is work life balance and employee moral. Money is great and a necessity to survive sure, but as a coporation how can you generate profits if your employees do not feel like they are being valued or profitable? You can’t! The second I have heard hours that do not fit my life currently or implications that employees are not happy, I have been declining the interview. I refuse to settle and my skills/potential dictate that I don’t have to settle. Nobody, should have to choose between home and work, but many companies are putting workers in that position. This is a great way to watch talented and well qualified individuals walk right out of the door! As a leader or member of any management team, cherishing your people and workplace engagement should be top priority. If you can master this (along with other skills pertaining to performance) often times this will help take care of the expectations of your directors, vice presidents, executives, etc. so you can reap the benefits‼️ Pour into yourself and pour into your people.

What makes you stay in your job? Whether it is things that make employees stay or leave, I have a theory that it is almost always about relationships. It all comes down to how we feel while we are at work and, as much as that can be about salary or career progression, generally it is about feeling like the work we do is valued or not. So, if you are happy in your role, it is probably one of these reasons that is keeping you there: 1. You feel valued 2. You feel challenged 3. They are listened to 4. They feel safe 5. They work with good people What is keeping you where you are? And if you do NOT feel these things, what are you doing to rectify it? You deserve to feel happy at work. #toxicworkplace, #leadershipmindset, #workplacewellness, #workplacebullying, #workplacementalhealth, #toxicproductivity, #gaslightingisabuse, #boundariesmatter, #findyourpassion, #findyourpassioninlife, #careerchange, #entrepreneurlife

When considering a job offer, what factors are most important to you? Is it career progression, company culture, company benefits, location, reputation, or a combination of these? Has your opinion shifted post-Covid? In today's ever-changing work landscape, it's crucial to weigh all aspects of a job offer to ensure it aligns with your personal and professional goals. The pandemic has undoubtedly reshaped our priorities, with many placing a greater emphasis on remote work options, work-life balance, and job security. Personally, I believe that a holistic approach is key when evaluating job opportunities. A strong company culture can impact your overall happiness and job satisfaction, while career progression and benefits can enhance your long-term success and well-being. #JobOffer #CareerDevelopment #CompanyCulture #RemoteWork #WorkLifeBalance #JobSecurity #FutureofWork

If you are preparing for the interview, this question is common and important. “How do you maintain work- life balance?” Keep it short and shift focus. Sample Answer: “ In my field, the constant long hours are impacting my work performance and personal life. I am looking for a balance, and your company’s focus on both productivity and employee well- being really stand out to me.” For Better Salary: (They want to know the reason and make sure there are NO major red flags) “I am looking for a role where my hard work and commitment are rewarded with both career advancement and appropriate compensation. That’s why I am exploring opportunities with the right company.” Remember, "Prepare like you have never won, Play like you have never lost" Share this to someone who needs this.
