The City of Baltimore always goes the extra mile during #BiketoWorkWeek and #BiketoWorkDay, and this year was no exception! Earlier today, the SPIN team had a great time discussing and showing off our e-bikes with the Lt. Governor of Maryland Aruna Miller. It was such a pleasure to also exchange with the Mayor of Baltimore Brandon M. Scott, Director Corren Johnson, Baltimore City Department of Transportation, Maryland Department of Transportation, and MTA Maryland, all joining in the fun!

Corporate Strategy with Pittsburgh Flair: Learning from Annual Planning Missteps Annual planning – the corporate strategy arena! 😅 As the Marketing Leader, navigating forecasts and strategies is like a game board without stumbling. Here's the scoop from last week's annual planning retro gaming session, intertwined with common mistakes, Pittsburgh moments, and fixes: ⚖️ Diverse Strategies: CEO and CRO sought clarity; I presented choices, akin to selecting a power-up in a classic game. Too many 'what ifs,' so I devised three options - Low, Base, High. Scaling revenue-growing strategies with strategic decision-making! Biggest Mistake: Unrealistic Conversion Rates Marketers overconfidently build conversion rate improvements. For top-down modeling, being slightly off leads to plan shortfalls. The Fix: – Use historical data(if available, if not, set benchmarks) – Break out conversion rates by source – Re-forecast quarterly (or monthly for cycles under 30 days) – Regularly re-forecast with rolling conversion rates Biggest Mistake: Lack of Modeling Balance If you build your model down from a set number, you could be in trouble. Build bottoms-up after top-down modeling, aligning with leadership and the board. The Fix: – Offer scenarios with current budget and requirements for X, Y, and Z approaches 🏈 Pittsburgh Moment: Steelers Game(not a fan, but not judging) Amidst strategic plays, a nod to the exhilaration of a Steelers game, where precision and teamwork reign supreme. A playbook in itself! Biggest Mistake: Inflexible Planning Leaders often create rigid plans without room for adjustment. Markets change rapidly, and unforeseen circumstances can hit anytime. The Fix: – Build a 15%-18% buffer in your plan – Schedule frequent reviews – Engage in scenario planning 🕹️ Pittsburgh Moment: Retro Game Night In the spirit of Pittsburgh's love for tradition, the planning session mirrors a Retro Game Night, where strategies are as classic as the games we grew up playing. Biggest Mistake: Relying on Outdated Data Leaders build models based on averages, industry benchmarks, or the wrong data. Implement strict data control measures and educate teams on data relevance. The Fix: – Ensure data accuracy – Educate teams on using current and applicable data – Build models on proven GTM motions 🥪 Pittsburgh Moment: Savory Sandwiches(Huge win!) Just as Pittsburgh takes pride in its iconic sandwiches, our strategies are built with layers of flavor, each contributing to the unique taste of success. Here's to a sound 2024, where every decision is a calculated move, and every roadmap, a strategic plan executed flawlessly. May our strategies be as calculated as a master chess player, and our bottom line, strategically triumphant! 💼📊 hashtag #AnnualPlanningStrategy #MarketingLeadership #StrategicSuccess #GTM #marketingleader
Wondering where we were last week? Allow us to fill you in! Over the past few months, BlastPoint has been on an incredible growth journey, and we're thrilled to share that we've expanded to a fantastic team of 39! (To put things in perspective, we began 2023 with just 13 employees!) Last week, we all converged in #Pittsburgh for a week-long employee event that was nothing short of spectacular! We curated a laid-back week, offering each team the chance to connect beyond our daily grinds. On Monday, our #RevenueTeam came together to strategize closing out 2023 with a bang. They also delved into 2024 planning, crafting strategies to surpass customer expectations and conquer new horizons. Tuesday kicked off with Alison Alvarez and Tomer Borenstein leading our company-wide meetings, sharing their perspectives and insights—from 'where we were' to 'where we are now' and 'where BlastPoint is headed' in the future. BlastPoint treated its employees to a range of activities at Pinball PA Arcade, LLC, a Pittsburgh Steelers game, Escape The Room - Pittsburgh, and Puttshack. We would also like to send a special shout out to #Dianoia's Eatery for hosting our company dinner...it was delicious! A heartfelt thank you to our incredible founders, dedicated staff, esteemed advisors, friends, and family, as well as the exceptional teams at eLab Ventures, Muditā Venture Partners, Curql, and #3MCapitalPartners. Embracing the power of teamwork! 🤝 Alone we can go faster, but together we go farther. Just had an incredible experience volunteering for envelope making at Red Dot Campaign with my team of 4!! Initially, we all dove in individually, battling the chaos of a tiny table. 🤯 Then, a lightbulb moment 💡: why not split the process into 4 steps? 🔄👏 Being engineers, my teammates quickly grasped the efficiency boost. And just like that, what was once a cramped space became a playground of productivity! Each of us focusing on our part had so much fun and made a remarkable difference in our throughput (i.e., number of envelopes made per minute). 🎉📈 Lesson learned: When life hands you lemons, make lemonade! 🌟 #TeamWorkMakesTheDreamWork Roopa Gokavi Avani Chitroda Siddharth Kirad Makarand Borude Naresh J.
