As the swedish summer transfer window opens, I’m often asked about our recruitment plans: “Are we bringing in any quality players”? My response? We have a 24 player squad. If we bring a player in, someone else has to go. Who do you want me to cut from the team? "It’s just not that simple." Squad building is not just a numbers game. It’s a delicate balance of team dynamics and individual aspirations. Every decision has consequences for the team, but also for individual players – individual people. People with dreams and ambitions, who invest significant time, money and energy in improving at our club. I think many (even colleagues) forget that signing a player is more than a contract – it’s a commitment and a responsibility. At our level and within our setting we’re committing to: ➡️ providing the best conditions for growth, ➡️ managing roles, training and playing time effectively, ➡️ nurturing talent towards professional elite football. Prematurely ending a player’s contract isn’t just a business decision – it’s a failure to uphold our responsibility and club identity. Obviously, we still sometimes part ways with players, and we still want and need to strengthen our squad when the opportunity arises. But we need to be conscious about the consequences of our actions and keep in mind that we are working with people, not numbers. Completed my first 5k run this morning since returning back from holiday last week. It wasn't as bad as I expected given that I've had 3 weeks off from the gym. Whilst on my run I had time to reflect over the weekend. You know where this is going.........given the photo below.......😉 One team yesterday (Arsenal) identified a weakness in their game, set pieces.........so have over the past couple of years worked hard on this and even employed a specialist to help them. The result..................They concede very few goals from set pieces now and have scored the most number of goals from corners in 2024 out of all Premier league teams. The other team (Sp*rs) have now conceded the 2nd most goals from corners in 2024 out of all Premier league teams. The Manager identified they had an issue last year but clearly, instead of addressing the issue it seems as though he has buried his head in the sand. Key learns: 1) Once you identify a development area, take action, and that may mean employing a specialist to help. 2) If your current manager buries his head in the sand rather than take action when issues arise and doesn't take steps to help you with your own development areas...............................maybe it's time to find a new job. 3) North London is and has always been RED Have a great week people 🔴👊🏽 #recruitment #recruitmentjobs #arsenal

There are two runners trying to set a PB. One runner is on the flat tarmac of London. Its spring and the weather conditions are perfect. They have a great support team and their training programme has been executed perfectly. This runner has been told if they hit their PB, they will be given a sizeable bonus. Runner 2 is expected to compete, yet is running in the Swiss mountains in summer. She has been given little support and has had to dig deep to stay motivated. Even training runs have been a chore. The training has been patchy and her coach is someone who tells her to "run faster" without telling her, 'how'. If she hits her PB target, she will be given a small bonus at the end of the year depending on securing a sponsorship deal. The above (exceptionally well written) 'story' might seem stupid. Its pretty bloody obvious which runner you would want to be. Then why do so many recruiters choose to work for firms that offer limited support, poor working conditions, and if they do manage to hit their goals, they get very little back! If you are micro managed, you are runner 2. If your comms does not pay out a third, then you are runner 2. If you work for a firm that saturates your market by getting loads of people to work it, you are runner 2... you get the idea! Your race, your hands. Runner 1 still has to get up each day and train hard. They will want to give up at times- all runners hit a wall...
