Keep in mind that it's not always about booking the entire team a ticket to Disneyland for the big win. It's also about recognizing the small victories that contribute to the big win and commemorating the milestone moments along the way. It's important to consider the value of continuous appreciation. In my role as the Operations Manager, I definitely feel like I play a crucial part in the company's overall success! I coordinate between different departments, streamline processes, and tackle any issues that arise, which helps keep projects on track and within budget. This means our clients are happy, and our team can focus on what they do best! 3. What do you enjoy most about working in the industry, and how does that passion drive your work? What I enjoy most about working in this industry is the constant buzz of creativity and innovation! My passion for this industry drives my work by making every day feel less like a job and more like an adventure! I get genuinely excited about the projects we take on, and that enthusiasm helps me stay motivated, even when things get a bit chaotic! 4. How do you stay updated with the latest trends and developments in the industry? Staying updated with the latest trends and developments in the industry is a bit like being on a never-ending scavenger hunt—and I love it! I make it a point to read Blooloop, industry blogs and subscribe to newsletters from key players. Following influencers and thought leaders on social media is also super helpful; they often share insights and trends before they hit the mainstream. Attending conferences and networking events is another great way to stay in the loop. Plus, it gives me a chance to meet new people and swap stories, which is always fun. And let's be real, sometimes it's those informal chats over coffee that provide the most valuable nuggets of information! 5. If you could visit any place in the world tomorrow, where would you go and why? If I could visit any place in the world tomorrow, I would choose Iceland without a second thought. There's just something magical about it. The landscape is like something out of a fantasy novel, with its stunning waterfalls, geysers, and of course, the Blue Lagoon. 💡You need two things to create a company culture that people love to be a part of. Great people and leadership that invests resources to support those people. Universal has both. One of Universal’s values is “We are team players,” and I have to say—in just this past month, I already feel part of the team in a way I have never experienced before. Everybody has been so genuinely welcoming, and it is apparent that TMs take this value to heart. Yesterday, I was invited to attend a new hire ice cream social, and whenever I asked a tenured Team Member, “what has kept you here?” the answer was always (ALWAYS)—“the people.” I’ve also never worked for a company that prioritizes “fun” as one of their key values—and leadership has demonstrated in just my first month that they dedicate company time and resources to create an environment that fosters camaraderie. A lot of companies have values—but values are just words on a page if you don’t have people who bring them to life. 🎉 A huge thanks and shoutout to the committees that put these events together! What are the main challenges in your business? People...probably the most common area (pretty broad, I know). This week we spent a couple of days at our Hemel Hempstead cinema working with the The Collaboration Company, using their 'Challenge 24' programme to present to their panel of external experts about our challenges across Talent Management, Employee Engagement and Talent Acquisition. But, why? Because we want to tackle a core problem, which is... 'how do we make a career in cinema appealing to a diverse range of talent, ensuring inclusivity and retention of employees?' The reason for this? We know that building, supporting, facilitating and retaining a diverse employee force is fundamental to driving change, creating a culture and an organisation that thrives; ultimately creating a successful organisation on all fronts. We know we aren't perfect but, we are 100% dedicated to creating positive change for our people. This session has given us some hugely valuable insights and some fantastic ideas to move us forwards.
